old video game commercials

I just bought activision anthology for the ps2 and found th coolest thing on there is old activison game commercials for the 2600. They were so sad that they were funny. I also found something else that was interesting, Phil Hartman was in the Ice Hockey commericial! I was wondering what was everyones favorite commercials were from the 80s and eary 90s because thats when they were at their corniest. My personal favorite was the legend of zelda commercial when they were doing that weird 80s rapping.

I remember that Phil Hartman commercial, very funny.

Whoever posted the vectrex commercial had a gem too, I never thought they had a commercial for that.

I loved the Genesis commercials of the early 90's, especially the game gear v. game boy ones.

My favorite from that era is the Demon Attack commercial that ends with a pre-Mighty Morphin Power Rangers prosthetic character shouting out

My favorite commercials were the ones from the early 80's......Intellivision always spent the bucks to make these great commercials, and then they had their 'intelligent' side, where George Plimpton would compare..say..Intellivision Baseball with Atari Baseball.

His dry, intellectual style would always make the competetors product look like total crap, but the funniest thing was when he'd say "To me, Intellivision Baseball plays much more like REAL baseball than Atari..". As if he ever picked up an intellivision controller in his LIFE.... :P

I'd go for the first Zelda ad (the rap one with the 2 nerds), although I'd say that the second Zelda ad (the asylum guy screaming Zelda's name) is one of the most memorable videogame ads ever.

To tell the truth, the only videogame ads I remember seeing on TV (so they played so often that they were burned in my brain forever) are the asylum Zelda ad and the SMB 3 ad (MA-RI-O! MA-RI-O! MA-RI-O! - Pans out to a giant Mario face covering North America).

Of the pre-crash era, my faves are the Intellivision ads with George Plimpton (well, he was mostly right in his comparisons, at least till the Colecovision came out).

I don't know about favorite, but all these years later I can still sing "the fun is back" 2600jr and "M Network's got the cure for the video blues" commercials.

Ohh and "Honey don't cha know I'm more than Pac-Man with a bow."

This place has some classics - including the Demon Attack, Phil Hartman, at least one of the Plimpton ads, and even the Atari 2600 Jr. "The Fun Is Back" ad - and more. There's even an Odyssey ad here!
