This should be in the Ebay Auctions Forum, but it's too good not to share with ALL videogamers. The utimate arcade collectible is currently on eBay. This would be an AWESOME addition to a gameroom. And it truly is ONE OF A KIND. What is it?

Clicky-click here. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3355034222&category=790&sspagename=rvi:1:1)

Don't ruin the surprize for others. But ain't this incredibly cool? MAME cabinet, my ass! This would be untouched FOREVER.

That's what I was thinking, too. It's like he's got Orochi blood in him. Well... so do I.

That there is Lance Guest - Alex Rogen himself! He's, of course, a bit older, but that there is The Last Starfighter playing The Last Starfighter!

Awww...it doesn't come with the creepy guy. ;_;

Man, those days sure are long gone. Lol.

It would be awesome if somebody would actually make that, put it inside (still no spoiler here, though grammar is crying for mercy). That would be awesome, though it would certainly be an involved process.

or at least get the original source footage on DVD to run inside it.

people on another board are posting that this is actually a mock of the original one that was used in the movie, and not the real one!

Gee, I wonder where they got that idea... To quote from the listing - "Since it was discovered that the original arcade cabinet that was used in the film was destroyed, this is the only cabinet known to exist."

yeah, the auction says it is a mock because the original was destroyed. i guess they used this one for the "making of" the movie...

i'm really not all that impressed. big whoopie!! i'd rather have a working Computer Space.

Actually, Racoon Lad had a great idea of having a loop of the "game footage" from the film running on the monitor. That'd be cool. Or, just the movie itself! Imagine Tron on a Tron game or Krull running on a Hrull machine. Talk about your dedicated VCRs!

Regardless, it's a damn nifty piece. It'd be like having a Space Paranoids or Bishop of Battle arcade mock-up.

BTW, if any of you guys are seriously bidding for this and wins the auction with the reserve met and al., remember that he doesn't ship. You gotta pick it up in Burbank, CA. And even though it's understandably gutted, it's still fairly big. On the other hand, it'd be a great excuse for a nice, extended road trip...

I think it was stated that this mock up was created for the Starfighter documentary.

It was created using the original blueprints and pictures etc etc etc.

Fancy way to say reproduction.

Cool to have but I don't put much into its "collectable" value. More like a home-brew project. They made one someone can make another.

From the auction:

This extremely unique cabinet was designed and created for the film itself by famed production designer Ron Cobb (Star Wars, ALIEN, Conan), and was constructed by the very talented Hollywood Prop manufacturer, HMS Props.

What I think is that they haven't given nearly enough information, or that they're not clearly stating what it is. The text I quoted would be misleading if it was a simple reproduction, and how they can say "created for the movie" alongside "the original arcade cabinet that was used in the film was destroyed."

$770 and the reserve price hasn't been met? Oh please.
