View Full Version : Free Play Golden Tee Arcade?
Hey... I've had something that has been bothering me for a while now... and I just wanted to know if anyone else noticed the same thing, or if it's just me. Has anyone else noticed that at a relatively non-busy place, many times there is already money in the Golden Tee machine? It's usually 75 cents to play, and usually when I see it there is 50 cents in, although sometimes $1. I've probably had this happen at least 10 times, and it just happened this Sunday. I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing, because I think it's a trick to get people to play, so if the machine is unused for a while, it just starts putting in credits until someone plays it. Or maybe I'm just lucky :P .

I wonder if that could be people who prepaid a certain number of holes but then had to leave before they finished.. or as you said, it could be a scheme to get people to start and then pay to continue.

There are a few reasons why people leave money in golden tee machines and it's not the operators trying to entice you to play. Most eveyone who plays GT drinks heavily and will sometimes leave money in the machine without realizing it. Some people just play to win money on the tournaments or hole n win. Once they've won their money they leave, not caring that there is extra money in the machine. Some people don't have quarters, so when the games asks for $.50 they'll just stick a dollar in and not care. Then there was the Tommy C. Shadow day where everyone was leaving money in the machine. Hey, when you could win $1000-$3000 for playing 6 holes, you leave what ever extra money is in the machine and find another location where the hole n win is still active.

Damn, I've NEVER noticed any money in the GT in my local 'cade. But maybe that's just because I'm one of the only people that played it...
Fun game though, and I get to smack around a trackball as hard as I can.
