My local Best Buy has a whole stack of these that rang up for a penny even though the price tag still said $5. If you haven't gotten it yet but still want to for whatever reason, go check it out.

Man, I'd love one of those, buy my local bestBuy doesn't do that. Nothing ever rings up that way, they just sit until employees take them home.

Note that your mileage may vary.

John and I recently perpetrated the "Oh, it's only a penny? How about that!" stunt on a Best Buy while out at Sean's place, but we've had far less luck locally. Usually the primate that runs the register figures out that there's some kind of mistake and the manager always knows better.

So I'd suggest:

1) act like it's a pleasant surprise.
2) buy something else with it so it doesn't look like you're there to scarf up their free games.
3) don't take more than one or two at a time.

i tried that at mine and they said that I couldn't even buy it for 5.00. They claimed that I had to buy a Gamecube to get one @_@

Last time I checked, it was a preorder for Rebel Strike...which I did end up preordering at my Gamestop though.

I got the penny deal a few weeks ago...thing was, I only had $5 + change in my pocket, so this was the only thing I bought... :embarrassed:

I paid $10 shipped for one one week before I found it at Best Buy... but at least my friend who is a Star Wars fan can play the demo.

No..lol..I was thinking about that today..
I have several $5.00 receipts stuck on my refrigerator for games I never went to pick up,but got free stuff for the $5.00
Tomb Raider/Brute Force etc.

The day I put $5.00 down on Rebel Strike at Best Buy I also put $5.00 on True Crime(Xbox)..only because I wanted the cool looking cardboard box for preorder that came with a preview DVD and mini poster..

I'll Buy True Crime and Rebel Strike used..

I bought Tomb Raider for $19.99 and Brute Force for $14.99 and got a thrird game for free...at Blockbusters..& they no longer put anything on the discs..

I hardly ever buy a game on release anymore..unless it's something like Halo 2..

these kinds of deals really get under my skin......why can't the people running the register just ring it up and sell it. unless they own the place.....they aren't getting paid extra just to think. i would put money on that, and my luck.....i'd make a trip to best buy and just waste all that gas because.....as somebody already said, they wouldn't let him buy one.

.......on a further note about clearance items and handouts/giveaways......i was at toys r us about an hour from my house. saw some stuff in a clearance bin, bought nothing. one week later i realized i really needed some of it........it just so happened that way, i didn't space out and forget i needed it. so anyways, i drive back because everything in the bin was $4.90. and locally the stuff i was looking for was $20-$30. so i drive back, look in the bin, everything is clearanced but what i want. i ask a roaming so called employee if they just aren't marked. and she says that $29.99 is correct, so i asked her why they were regular price in the clearance bin.....and she says it's not a clearance bin. well i'm sorry but when things are just thrown in this metal crate.......we'll say 50 items, ranging from 14.99-$29.99 regular price, and all but 3 of the items are marked down to $4.90....... :angry: :angry: ........but i needed it so badly and i'm a video game sucker......that i bought it.

Done flaming......time for bed......everybody should have an equal opportunity at promos or giveaways.....and what a load, you have to buy a system.... :hmm:

I got the last one at my Best Buy today!

I grabbed a copy of FFX and the demo disc and went to the register. Apparantly there were some computer problems and the cashier wasn't even paying attention to notice the price difference. It works for me though!

The arcade game alone is worth a quarter :)
