I would have to imagine that somebody has taken this hobby to the absolute extreme, and caused their wife to run away with the UPS man! he he...

No divorce, in fact we just bought a house and I've already setup my game room :) I should send in some pics for the RoD page.

Actually, Im hoping for the opposite...(cue dream sequence)

Girl: Oh, you have a nice apartment. *she looks around* :eek 2: Th-th-that sure is a lot of games. In fact, you're the only 23 year old Ive ever met that has this many games intended primarily for children.

Me: Uh, well, I just...uh...fun...something to do...hobby..mumble..mumble...

Girl: That's SOOOO cool!

Me: YES!! Why dont you pick something out of my library and we'll....."have a go." (smooth double entendre) 8-)

my fiancee loves games, and as long as I supply her with ones she likes (RPGs, Tactics, anything Little Mermaid) she happily allows me my pleasures (Fighters, "Those really strange messed up games like Rez")

I'm on my fourth wife, and my fourteenth complete game library.

It's a fair cop.

I'm with Max...

I'll be married in 4 days, and she hates games. It's better that way though. I don't spend TOO much money on it (I'd be spending more if I was still into records/clubbing) and I try not to hog the TV. She understands that it's a hobby, and is cool with it. Also having a game-hater makes me take a break from time to time.

Just make sure you're trading the wives in and not stockpiling them - there's a limit to collecting. ;)

My wife loves that I game. She's all about the game room, too. I make sure that it's stuff we can do together - Air Hockey, Fooseball, 2 player games (Sould Calibur - she ROCKS at that game as Ivy)....

I love that she does crafts. Stamping, clay, craft shows, you know.

We just love each other. Our anneversary is on the 28th.

And yes, I'll go shoot myself now for being so sappy.

Point: Gamer girls are out there, in fact, it's said that they outnumber guys now (I doubt this, but there was a survey just one month back)... It's not only POSSIBLE that your future wife will kick your ass in Dr. Mario, it's HIGHLY LIKELY.

i'm not married yet, though we do live together and are planning to ;)

my gf doesn't have a problem with my hobby as long as people that walk into our appartment don't see the games and stuff at first sight

she also does play games, mainly thing like Super Mario Kart or Yoshi's Island *ggg*. what she loves is to watch me playing "cute" rpgs like Lufia and also some other genres (jump&run,action-adventures....). She also plays classic adventures like Day of The Tentacle (she knows every puzzle :o )

Exactly - 100% right on. If you're looking like a slob, it's a no go. Instead of shelves, get something with doors. Keep your most active titles handy, and the rest stored. Cable management is important.

That's right - cable management impresses the ladies.

It's just like dressing well - if you smell funny, don't work out, and you've got the 80's wardrobe going on, you've only got yourself to blame when you're ignored. You're not projecting "classic is cool" - you're projecting "I'm a pack rat and you should help me throw this crap out as soon as you can".

My girlfriend doesn't understand, but she can't really say anything because she collects cows and panda bears. She loves animals.

The only game she plays is "Push Push" on her cell phone.

when i met this gal she has a snes/n64/ps/ multiple computers and a comic collection.(former comic book store gal, pick hair, short black lacy skirts and all, bowling shoes)

now she gets home and wants to play ddr/samba/pokemon...loves hamtaro games/bust a move/FF/harvest moon/animal crossing.

As long as i don't jump around hobbies, like collect sports cards or anything else, and every 10th game is bought in her interest. She is oh so happy.

It was not quite a divorce, but close enough.

We were engaged. She cited games as a big reason for dumping me. I was just to into them. She felt like I loved games more then her.

Of course, she was off fuckin my friends, so I think i'm better off.

I think the absolute WORST thing you can do, is be with someone who doesn't like your hobby. Seriously. Because when you get really into something, they feel shuned or over casted by it and become jealous.

Of course it is my own opinion based on my experinces, not universal law.

Going through a divorce/dissolution right now. I would have to agree with whoever said "I am better off with my games" Because:

1. You can save and TURN off if you want to

2. You can throw your controller on the ground and not have the cops called on you.

3. Games are an investment to your hobby whereas a wife is a drain on your pocketbook, and your enjoyment of games.

DON'T GET MARRIED it's not worth the hassle, and games(if good) can be more enjoyable than your better half.

No way. My husband and I (yes I'm a girl) are both avid gamers. If anything, having a hobby/obsession that we're both passionate about has made us grow closer.

Well, as close as we can get when I whoop his butt at Mortal Kombat and then he retaliates and whoops me in Halo's Slayer mode :)

I didn't beat, push or any kind of spousal abuse to her (thought about it many times), but never laid a hand on her just trying to make myself laugh that is all.

Joe, how the fuck did you afford 3 divorces and one of the largest game collections on earth? At least they didn't take half of your assets (games). 4th time's a charm, I guess.

My girl likes games, but is not fanatical like me. She is very supportive of my hobby and is very happy for me when I make a good find. I recently got her into SNES Mario Paint. It's a very romantic "game." You can draw cute pictures to each other with funny music.

LOL I think that is the first and last time SNES Mario Paint will be referred to as romantic anything! ;)

This supports my theory that Joe's wife is actually constructed from video games.

I'm not married, but I am living with a girl. We've been together since 99. Lots of problems in the relationship, but never about games. She's fanatical about anime and I am fanatical about games. She likes games and I like anime, so it works out

My wife isn't into the clutter of having all those things around (of course they're well organized so it's not a *real* problem). She'd prefer it if I didn't spend so much $$ on them (although she appreciates the fact that I'm always looking to get a deal and rarely pay top $$).

But...

She can and does get hooked on a game now and again (Ico, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance). And on more than one occasion she's actually bragged about how many consoles I've got.

She understood I was a collector before she married me. She's not a collector herself but that doesn't mean it's ever been a problem. Sure she bugs me about how much stuff I'm bringing into the house on occasion, but as I said she'll also brag a few days later if the moment seems right. :)

Well I guess I am one of the lucky ones too, as my wife likes games also, not nowhere near as much as me but plays about as much. She helps me out in buying and doesn't care as long as I don't spend to much, but with my cheap ass attitude, I never do (I never buy games at full price never more than 30) And yes I have alot of the so called rarities and games that go for decent prices. I just wait like a vulture and pounce:)

I am in the midst of organizing everything now. Found some good shelving at sams club I am going to use. I keep the current gen systems in the living room and the older ones (dreamcast back) in the office/game room. I use wireless controllers where possible. With a 18 month old you understand:)

Speaking of which does anyone know of a person or place that sells the docs wireless controllers for the DC? I knwo I cna get an adapter and use a wireless psx. But I like the dc controllers. I just wish the n64 analog sticks wer eon the left hand side of the controller instead of the middle.
