My favorite unofficial version of Mame32. There are many reasons why I think it rocks, here's a few:

Ability to skip the disclamers

MUCH better joystick configuration dialog (you can set up 8 joypads the way you want them)

Ability to remove the "The" from games on the game list. Makes it easier to find these games.

Ability to use Direct3D


There is of course much more I didn't mention. Download it and see for yourself!

On the left click "Download", then select the Intel or Non-Intel binary file to download. Intel if you have a pentium, non if you have an amd or other processor.

Typically with MAME builds the Intel optimized binaries run better on K7s than the regular or AMD optimized builds do. If you have a K6 you wouldn't want to go with an Intel build, but a K7 will benefit from the i686 optimizations. Either way, the differences are relatively negligible, but I run i686/Intel optimized versions on my Athlons.

Thats good to know. I have always had Pentium based processors, but with the low prices of the Athlons I am considering one for the next system I build myself. I was always wondering how the I686 builds of software would run on the Athlon.
