Comparison F-ZeroGX - Quantum Redshift/Wipeout Fusion?

I got last week Quantum Redshift (XBox), and I like the game very much; however, I never played Wipeout Fusion, and (like always) I'll buy F-ZeroGX when it drops to $20.

I was just curious, how does F-ZeroGX compare to Quantum Redshift, and/or Wipeout Fusion? Is FZero in some ways innovative, or is it basically the same game? What about graphics and control comparing the games?

F-Zero GX is the best of the three, then Wipeout Fusion, then QR. GX has the best and most challenging gameplay, the tightest controls, and the keenest audio/visuals. Nintendo did real good.

So good, eh??? Damn, If I weren't so cheap I'd buy it right away. I hope the price drops soon; in the emantime I'll hunt down Wipeout, maybe I can get it for 15 bucks.

I don't know what happened to me; I always preferred RPGs and adventure games, I found racers the most boring thing; until the 128 bit era the traditional and futuristic racers didn't offer a lot of gameplay (nver found SNES F Zero appealing, nor Super mario Kart); but Gran Turismo 3 messed me up completely.

Only with the new gen systems racers offer in-depth gameplay when done right, 3D made a game developers dream come true - simple two button control, accelerate, brake, steer, and you'll never be perfect.

Agreed. There's almost no comparison really, at least in my eyes. F-Zero GX is astounding. It's well worth the price tag it has on it now, as the replay value is rather high.

I'll vote for F-zero too. It is just amazing and how interacts with arcade version is very cool. No arcades around me have it though. :(

FZ is pretty tight in controls, the crafts stay close to the ground and the tracks are "artificial" (as opposed to QR's more natural courses) so you can get some serious speed without getting hung up on anything. QR (at least the demo) felt a bit "floaty" to me, making the craft hard to control. FZ follows the Othello route in difficulty and does it well. It doesn't have the weapons QR does but it does have a total of about 30 craft all racing at once, which makes the game play more hectic. I'd say FZ is over QR. Never played the new Wipeout, so I can't comment on that.

I have to also say that modern racing games are also catching my eye. Games like Crazy Taxi, Spy Hunter and even GTA give you more freedom of travel which ramps up the appeal. APEX, even though it's more of a traditional racer, is just gorgeous and the create a business mode adds a lot.

The original F-Zero never got me, but F-Zero X was awesome, and GX improved upon that one in so many ways. Of all the futuristic racers, I'd say go with that one. Just try not to tear your hair out trying to unlock of the Arcade racers and tracks-Rainbow Pheonix will do that.

IMO there's no substitute for Wipeout.

Thanks guys for the tips and hints. I'll certainly check out Wipeout 3 and Fusion, and Apex. FZero is a sure buy when it gets cheaper.

Since I played GT3 two years ago (one of the best videogames ever produced), I love racers. God have mercy on my soul. :)
