It seems to me that some games seem to be more fun when played on computer than console, and others just aren't fun on PC, but are enjoyable on your TV.
Off Hand I'd say Colecovision's "The Heist" is WAY more suited to be played on a computer than on the Coleco itself. I loved the game on emulators, but when I got a cart and plugged it into my CV, it just wasn't as enjoyable.
Likewise, My Hero on the SMS is not fun on an emulator, but for some reason, I really enjoy playing it on the actual console.
Does anyone else feel this way, that some games just "work" on a PC, but don't on a console, or vice-versa?

This is a bit more modern but I recently played through the PC port of Silent Hill 2. As a person more versed in the nuances of PC gaming than the PS2 I found the overall sluggishness of the game to be very annoying- I mean the way the menus pull up, accessing inventory, close-ups of the puzzles, etc, everything's methodical. This may be fine and dandy to people more inclined to the Playstation hooked up to a television but I like my gratification much more instantaneous when I'm using the computer.

Any MMORPG (PSO), FPS or other game that requires a mouse or a keyboard - Better on a PC. Period. Even if you HAVE a keyboard hooked up to it, using a keyboard on your couch is NOT fun.
Conversely, Sports games are much more enjoyable in general on a console. Trying to run a football with a mouse or keyboard just sucks.

I'm tired of being unable to activate running via doubletap on my Nomad. I like the feel of the game better than on my PC (sound, graphics, and the gameplay) but the thing doesn't do that very well for me.

Personally FPS game developers are starting to figure out how to craft their games for consoles. I prefer a dual stick setup over a keyboard/mouse (or in my case, trackball) setup.
RTS games are pretty much for PC only, as are Sim style games. With such small characters (like Warcraft) and lots of text it kinda gets washed out on a TV.

What's wrong with using a Gravis GamePad Pro -- which is the spitting image of a PSX controller -- for sports games on the PC? Or using a joystick like a Microsoft Sidewinder for flight sims or space games? I do those all the time. :D

Any First person shooter needs the option of keyboard and mouse, in my opinion.

OYEAHHHHHHHHH...thats the ticket! Should give you the option to use a M/KB. Only a few ps2 titles do that
1. Red Faction 2
2. Half Life
3. Unreal Tournment
Just get yourself a table to put the M/KB on. So you dont have to lay your Keyboard on the couch. :P

I completly agree that FPSs are only good on the pc, but thats probably just because I'm used to the keyboard and mouse. And as for a game that did not port to well, FF7 for PC, sure the graphics improved but it was PHYSICALY PAINFULL to try and use the numpad in place of an old PS controller.

I think the fps genre works beter on pc,
because a mouse and pc monitor setup lets you aim faster and more precise. so you don't need any auto-aiming or aiming-correction like on console.
I value that because a FPS is al about the skills, especially online.

FF7 probably is painful on a numeric keypad, but there's no reason to use the keyboard. There are lots of controllers / gamepads available for the PC (and there were back when FF7 came out) at very reasonable prices. PC controllers can even have force-feedback and analog sticks. I've tried several games on both a PC emulator and the original console and haven't noticed much of a difference at all.
PCs can do pretty much everything that a console can do and more - and they almost always do it quicker. It's not as portable without the right set-up (i.e. - a video card that has output to a TV), but that's not too hard to find. The only advantage a console might possibly have is its portability and ease-of-use. OK - they're generally cheaper, too (although on the other hand the software is often more expensive).
Consoles are also woefully lacking when it comes to FPSes and RTSes (as many have pointed out). The inability to patch or add content (except for Xbox live owners) is another negative.
