I'm selling a very expensive item on ebay. Paypal is probably the easiest way of payment but the question is how easy it is for a buyer to cancel his paypal payment. Just to be sure I don't be fooled when I have sent the item to him. I'm an international seller if that helps.

Thanks

Ship only to Paypal approved countries.
Ship the fastest way possible.
Use delivery confirmation.
Ship only to a verified (confirmed) address.
Don't accept credit card payments through paypal.
Insure the package.

You should be safer that way.

I'd say all of that, but I will take credit card payments through PayPal, because so far no one has tried to do a chargeback on me. Besides, if the item is expensive, like the post said, the winner of the auction probaly would'nt have ALL that money in their account. They might use a bank account linked to it, but even THAT could be chargebacked.

Dood somebody just did a chargeback on me for $55. Almost 3 months later. I am lucky I still have the DC#. But Canada post doesnt keep records on their site for that long. I phoned them and its still in the system, so I hope I'm ok. bastard even left me positive feedback. It pisses me off that paypal automaticlly takes the money out of my account, until its settled.

Creating a fake credit card is usually much easier than creating a fake bank account, thats why I say no. I also say no because they like to carge all those lovely fees, whether it is a cc payment or not ~.~

What is the eBay name of the guy who screwed you over. Anyone who leaves positive feedback and then files for a chargeback needs to be put on my blocked bidder list.

i thought you could stop a chargeback if they left positive feedback......

and bank transactions through paypal suck.....you have to wait a week minimum.

i guess i should save all my delivery confirmation #'s from now on. and they should put a time limit on how long you can wait until you do a chargeback. total BS

Kind of. I notice it takes that long if you are putting money from your paypal account into your bank account. But I usually keep a zero balance in my paypal account and pay for items, the money is transferred from my bank account to my paypal account to their paypal account simultaneously.

Maybe that's because I keep my debit card as my credit card on file though.

i have no problem with waiting for my funds to transfer because i know when i'm going to want the money and i can plan for it. but when you expect something to be paid for and you get a bank transaction that leaves the package sitting next to your computer for around a week.....i can't say that it's all that bad......but i get impatient. no different than waiting on a MO i suppose.

and about the paypal balance. it seems like i always have funds in my account anymore. it used to be because i always wanted to dump larger amounts into the bank because i had it linked to my mom's checking account. and my mom is just that type, i'll put money in there and tell her and tell her to get it out of her account as soon as the bank says it's there. and if i put $500, she always came to me with $400 n said i'll give you the rest when i get paid. cuz she found something to pilfer it on, and well......it just irritates me when other people have my money. checks really bother me too, even if i don't have anything to spend my money on......i always want to have cash or have it in my account. and over the past couple weeks i've switched things over to be on my bank account so i can avoid the problems. and i can check online when the money is there so i can use it whenever needed :)

so none of that helps the topic very much.....but it may be good info for a new paypal user in some way...

If you are hesitant to allow paypal payments through a credit card (I don't allow credit card payments myself as I am not a premier member), then consider using Bidpay as an option. Bidpay allows a user to buy a Western Union money order using their credit card. The money order can be sent via priority mail if requested. Its sent by Western Union and I usually get them in the mail within 3-5 days after confirmation. Moreover, unlike paypal where the seller has to pay when the buyer uses a credit card, Bidpay makes the buyer pay. Bidpay is a good option if you are selling a high priced item and you want people to be able to pay by credit card.
