Are these worth $100?

Also, how can I hook my cable up to this considering it comes out of the wall as coax?

coax->vcr->any other output type that your vcr has.

Why on earth not at least include a Coax input since the majority of us are prolly in this situation? Why run everything through another appliance first?

who needs coax anymore, considering your cable should be digital and run though it's own box and output svideo/av.

Digital Cable is twice as expensive here and the regular cable simply comes in via Coax.

coax is asumed to have one use, cable...all other products are asumed to use higher quality signals: A/V, S-Video, Component...coax is obsolete for everything but cable, which can be fed directly into your VCR or TV without the selector. This item is for people that have many component products to put into 1 component TV input (I have GC, PS2, XBOX, and DVD as component, so I need a component selector). It isn't for people with only coax, A/V or even s-video input on their tv...you can get a 20 dollar system selector for that. The reason this system selector even has AV and SVideo is in the case some has only two component items and more A/V and S-V items so they dont have to get another selector...I myself have a 4 component input autoselector ($300). A hundred bucks for a nice looking 7 input selector is definitely worth it. The cheapest I found when I was searching for my selector was a component video only selector (no audio) that had a knob to choose between 3 inputs and was ugly as hell for 80 bucks... I hope this helps you out...

It looks really nice and sleek...much better than my three plastic switch boxes chained together, but for $100, I need more than 7 inputs.

I used to have 30 systems hooked up on my TV at once through system selectors, but it was a fire hazard, so now I only have 4 :(

I got the system selector today. I waited for around two years that something like this hits the market, finally I have not only the PS2 but also the GC and XBox on component video. It beats the hell out of a receiver for 8oo bucks if you want more than one component video connection. For $800 I'd rather buy a new TV.

Metroid Prime looks better, Ikaruga, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. :) (I had the GC and Xbox only on S-Video so far.)

At first it's hard to tell a difference, but the colors come indeed over more "natural", the pic is cleaner and crisper.

I have two standard TVs (an older and newer 27" Toshiba, side by side), and when I link my two PS2s to play GT (one on S-Video, the other on component video, same quality cables), the difference is significant!! Actually, a year ago I was very surprised how much better the game looks in component video, the S-video looks a bit blurry, and some colors come not through so clear, 20% might be the TV set, but the kind of connection is the most important factor for pic quality. I thought the difference between s-video and component video isn't so big when I upgraded to component, but when I saw the two TVs side by side, I was really how much better component is.

BTW, the system selector comes with two cables, one component video cable (w/o audio) which is average and appropriate (prolly 25 bucks) for the selector, and one S-video cable with audio.

Another tip: if you use a selector, don't go for a Monstercable. A very good cable makes only sense if you can connect it directly to your TV. For the Xbox buy the "High definition A/V pack" for 20 bucks from Microsoft instead of the Monstercable (60 bucks). It has a component video cable (with audio) which works just fine with a standard TV, not only for HDTV.

If you want the best pic out of your standard TV monitor, go for it!!! It's really worth it.

Brings back memories... LOL

About five years ago I had pretty much everything from Atari to Dreamcast, about 20 consoles in all, daisy chained with RF switches to an old 13-inch TV. I finally broke down and bought a descent 27-inch Panasonic and a few switchboxes.

Any one have a picture of the back of this unit.
Mostly wondering what kind of OUT puts it has on it.
actually how many audio outs it has.
My tv will automaticaly use the highest quality cord plugged into each input, so I have to seperate the coponent/ rca, to different inputs. I would need atleast 2 audio outs from the unit.
Thanks for the help.

Since this was my thread so long ago, I'll mention that I bought one of these about 18 months ago and have been quite happy with it.

Are you sure thats not the INPUTS on the unit.
I can't imangine it having room for 8 audio inputs and then giving you 8 audio out options?

After searching and searching the only nifo I could find is it has DUAL TV out on it.
Does it offer All outputs for both TV's? ( rca video , copo, optical, rca audio) This way I could hook up TV1 as input 1 on my tv and TV2 as input 2 on my tv.

DOH!

My fault. Wasn't thinking. There's one out for everything. One optical, one standard composite, one component, one s-video.
