I'm intrigued - has anyone got one?

I saw those at E3 2001. Never seen one in stores though.

Oh, man... Titus the Fox was released on the Genesis? That's a shame... the Amiga version was horrible and I can't imagine the Genny version being any better. Let's hope it's only available exclusively on this console.

It is a pirate clone device, a MegaDrive on a tiny PCB shoved into a controller. There are a TON of these with Famicoms inside, instead of MD's.

Is that thing licensed by Sega? Does it accept cartridges?

Someone posted this months ago, and I followed up with the manufacturer (or the main distributor) but the price was insane, even for buying in bulk. I guess 15 pounds isn't a bad deal should it go for that.

@Epicenter, stop giving info you don't have.

It's licenced by sega, it says so on the box, and I SAW THEM AT E3! Pirate console manufatures don't set up displays at the largest game industry gathering in the US, especially when the segas booth is only 50 yards or so away!!

So you'd need a PAL TV to play these games on, right?

It looks just like that Atari joystick-game device I've seen in EB.

I've got one that's similar.

http://www.vidgame.net/SEGA/mega_21.htm

But they aren't 21 full games on mine, they were 21 levels. I believe I got it from geelw about a year or two ago.

Don't suppose that thing HAPPENS to have a cartridge port on the back of it does it? THAT would be sweet.

Not on mine, it's all built into one.

RaccoonLad, just because the box SAYS it is licensed by SEGA doesn't mean it IS. There are tons of pirate clone machines with the real manufacturer logo on them. And piraters ARE stupid enough to try and sell their shit at E3. Remember, Sega is NOT as big about cracking down on pirates as Nintendo. Nowhere near as much so. I've seen about 500 machines just like this with Famicom equipment inside of them.

FURTHER supporting facts-- the # of bits is displayed OVER AND OVER on the box. This is only done by piraters, in hopes it'll convince consumers to get it. Also note the bad grammar .. AND THERE ALREADY WAS A GENESIS 3 .. it was a smaller form factor machine with no Z80 made by a third party company at the end of the Genesis' lifespan. Producing a MegaDrive 3 would be idiocy. This was probably made in China, and a PAL board was used because it cost less to import than an NTSC one. A product from Japan or the US would not be PAL ..

In either case, you can disagree without launching a personal attack like that. Sheesh, there are some really bloody rude people here ..

Furry fight!! My money rides on Raccoon Lad.

Long story short Sega has been known to give the go ahead to smaller companies in Brazil to market 'licensed' products. This is entirely independant on their ability to make pretty packages than their willingess to pass on the buck to big daddy.

On a similar note I have observed resellers in Brazil typically trying to sell 'new' obsolete Sega stuff for crazy prices like it's gold or something. 150$ for exporting a SMS3 and so on.

Yep, TecToy does most of this. If import restrictions there weren't so fascist they could buy MODERN products at PROPER prices. But when it reaches this sort of scale, it's only a step above pirate hardware. Wwith so much pirate hardware released in Brazil, the 'licensed' products are clearly taking on their characteristics .. i.e. the classic Famicom-in-a-Controller Hong Kong Design, the ROM chips hardwired into the cartride pins, making a real cartridge slot difficult to implement (and therefore not included), the bad grammar and overstating of OMG 16 BITTSS on the box, etc. So it might as well be one, really.. they just have a halfassed excuse to call it a 'licensed Sega product'.

On a side note, I'm not a furry. And you're really one to talk, Mr. Bratwurst with a Baby's Face. Is that supposed to be a baby put through a meat grinder? Sounds like one of those 'dead baby' jokes. :)

I was about to say that. I've also heard it confirmed that they were from Sega, and seeing these at E3 clinches it.

Really cool design for a console, I'd like to see a console that was nothing but a controller which plugged right into your TV and let you use memory sticks. Though perhaps that isn't quite logical, I've got a soft spot for direct-to-TV devices ;)

No Shinobi, no Golden Axe, and no Streets of Rage, though.

I was down in florida last week, and a guyi at the mall down there was selling one of these, he had it for50 but it was three consoles, all seperately, one genny, snes and nes, all the same as this thing its a nice emulator, and a pretty sweet compact all in one game unit. But very illegal

If I got a piece of pirate hardware, it'd probably be the Game Theory Admiral backlit Famicom portable clone .. I also would not mind having a Dr. PC Junior simply for the novelty of it. A Game Axe wouldn't be bad either, but I don't like how power-hungry and large they are.
