Anyone have any info on unreleased Odyssey2 protos? I know that John Donzilla (sp?) has that multicart with a number of them on it. I was thinking like the Sherlock Holmes or Pink Panther games. I read somewhere that some guy whose dad worked for NAP had 2 Odyssey3 systems and several unreleased games, including Pink Panther. Anyone else know anything?

Mind you i am not a O2 expert, but i know these all exist in proto form, as they all appear in the DP guide, as well as i have actually seen a couple pics for some.

Don't forget Pinball. It did see the limited release at what was it, CGE? But its a proto nonetheless.

I like how the O2 proto's say PROTOTYPE right on them. Sure makes it easy to know what you've got!

True. There is no second guessing at least. :)

To answer Jagdiesel's question (do these protos exist?):

Black Hole (Brazilian release?) - According to DP, a demo cart was discovered in the Netherlands by Maurice Simon. It's the same as Neutron Star + without the Plus graphics, which means it's equivalent to the Brazil release Buraco Negro (translation: "Black Hole").

Clay Pigeon - Released in Brazil without Plus graphics. A proto was found in the Netherlands by Marco Kerstens that has Plus graphics. Nico Sapin made a handful of cart copies of the Plus version, giving it Videopac #62+.

Clean Up Yer Act - A prototype definitely existed at one time (as confirmed by the programmer, Robert S. Harris), but its whereabouts at the current time are unknown, assuming it still exists at all.

Defenders - I think the DP Guide is wrong on this one. It says it is Exojet without Plus graphics, but according to Arnoud Helmantel's web site (http://crash.grafisis.nl/videopac/mainpage.html) (the guy who found the proto in the Netherlands), it's the same as Freedom Fighters +.

Flashpoint - Odyssey3 proto. One of these was owned by Troy Lukkarila in Florida, whose father worked at NAP. (Read some details here (http://www.classicgaming.com/o2home/articles/newprobe.shtml). Supposedly another one is owned by Nico Sapin in France.

Interpol - EPROM found by Nico Sapin, who distributed a small run of copy carts (with boxes and manuals).

Jake - EPROM found by Marco Kerstens.

Plantage - EPROM found by Marco Kerstens.

Play Tag - Proto found by Arnoud Helmantel. Is this the same as Plantage? Nobody seems to know. (Pic) (http://crash.grafisis.nl/videopac/images/play_tag_module.jpg)

Red Baron - DP Guide says this is a proto of 59+ Helicopter Rescue without background graphics. I think this may be another error. 59+ also has high-res foreground graphics, so I don't see the point of taking out the background graphics. Could Red Baron be a proto of 58+ Air Battle without background graphics? If so, it would be the same as the Brazilian release Barão Vermelho (which translates to "Red Baron").

Restaurant - DP Guide says three EPROMs have been found in the Netherlands. Probably the planned international release name for the Jopac game Chez Maxime.

Robot City - Marco Kerstens found an EPROM of this, but Rikard Ljungkvist found an actual proto cart. Here's a picture (http://www.classicgaming.com/o2home/inserts/image.asp?image=images/carts/vpac/robotcity.jpg).

Shark Hunter - Demo cart found in Netherlands by Maurice Simon.

Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective - Jayson Hill owns the proto (I think it's on cart, but I don't know for sure), and there may be one copy cart floating around too. Artwork planned for the box and game board can be seen here (http://www.classicgaming.com/o2home/articles/bradford/gallery.shtml).

Tutankham - Maurice Simon contacted people from the company that worked on this game, and they confirmed that it was done, that prototype(s) existed as well as preproduction boxes and manuals. But nobody's discovered any yet. The rumor that Tutankham was once sold in Brazil is NOT TRUE; the person who thought he saw it for sale has come to realize that he actually saw O Segredo do Faraó.
