I just got these; Fantasy Zone and Ghost House BOXED with MANUAL DEMO carts. The labels are slightly different, the boxes are slightly different, the manuals are QUITE different, and Fantasy Zone's on EPROMs.

as you can see by my blurry pics, the Fantasy Zone's Eprom Labels are in Japanese, and the manual contains tips from Professor Player. Neiter the cart or card have labels on the back.

I was told these were used by distribution reps to show to store (probably large chain) owners to secure orders for the system's US launch.

Has anyone ever seen these before, or have any idea of what they might be worth?

If you dont know what it is, chances are most others wont either. ;) I know the Fantasy Zone is worth more than the $15 you paid for it though.

By some fluke of nature, I actually aquired these less than a week after I aquired another complete identical Fantasy Zone for less than $10.
I'll probably have to wait another year before I find anything interesting again. :)

I'm gonna ^bump this up in case any one didn't notice it already.

C'mon there's gotta be some other experienced SMS collectors out there, Joe?

ybot had a cart like that, production label with eprom board. that's the only other one i've ever seen.

I was told these were used by distribution reps to show to store (probably large chain) owners to secure orders for the system's US launch.

that sounds right. it would explain why they're on proto boards since they were shown to stores before the system's launch. pretty cool find!

Actually, it's not a production label. It looks alot like a production label, but it's texture/material is a bit different. Same with the Ghost house, which instead of silver stripes has little black dotted lines, and under the Sega logo says 1986 sega (production label just has sega logo) You might also notice the Ghost House label is slightly crooked.

I forgot to mention that the boxes are like the early SMS boxes (outer clear plastic is different), but also inside the box, it's missing the 2 little tabs that keep the manual from sliding around (not the ones that actually hold the manual)
