I picked up a good deal today on a SNES. this was not a version I had seen before. I just found a picture of it:

A SNES version 2. I cannot find much information about this system. I like the looks of it.--I do not like the original SNES system. Does anyone else have this version of this system? Can't wait to play some SNES games.

As far as I know you can't do four player on it since there's no tap thing on the back; there's also no expansion port on the bottom (as if you've got a use for that).

So far that's the first and only SNES I've owned.

Much like the coveted top-loader, this was a redesign Nintendo released late in the system's life. The main difference I'm aware of is that it takes a different plugs (it takes the GCN/N64 AV wires instead of the regular SNES ones). I'm not sure whether or not that AC adaptor is any different as I traded my SNES2 to a friend about a month and a half ago and can't remember. Nice find btw, those aren't exactly rare, but they're far less common than the boxy SNES.

@ED: I'm pretty sure you can still do multiplayer on it, although I haven't tried. I have a Bomberman multitap (shaped like Bomberman's face, import) and it's got a switch on it to differentiate how many players and such. I may be wrong though.

Actually, the old-school SNES is compatible with the GameCube AV too. I recently bought an SNES from a thrift shop, and lo and behold, it came with everything but the RF or AV. Desperate, I tried connecting the GC AV to the SNES...and it worked. :)

There's two ports on the front, once you've used those you're done. There are no other ports anywhere.

You can do multiplayer with the multi-tap.

The AV cable is the same as GCN/N64, but these cables were also on the original SNES. You can use the original RF switch, but you need a modulator (part no. NUS-003 IIRC)

Power adapter is also the same.

However, there is no support for S-Video with this unit.

Ed: what ports are on the back of your SNES 1 that apparently none of the rest of us had? The other only had two controller ports which you'd need a multitap for 3+ players anyhow. :hmm: Like nearly any other system, multitaps go into the controller ports.

Didn't know how the multitap worked, then. As for the back of the unit, I said there's just spots for power and the A/V output, that's all.

Yeah, it's not a bad system. And I use an RF with my SNES2! How you ask? Well, conveniently almost ALL of Nintendo's peripherals are compatible with each other. The SNES 1 and 2 power supplies are the same, and the AV cables are the same for SNES, N64, and GC. This means that the RF adaptor for N64 and GC also works with the SNES2! So I snagged a N64 RF adaptor and plugged a regular Nintendo RF into my SNES2. Works great! It's a LOT more compact if you need space, but it's almost as wide as the regular SNES. Worth getting if it's cheap, but don't pay top dollar for one!

It really comes in handy.

So you can save at any time, just like with an emulator?

I had been wondering if that was possible.

I've always owned an SNES, but it's not the same model as yours. But as far as I know, there aren't a lot of differences between them. Everyone here knows more about the technology of VG systems than I do, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
