A lot of my friends told me back when this game came out that it was worth my money to buy, cause they know how much I enjoy and love RPG's. For several reasons, though, I never did.

Now I'd like to pick up a copy, only I'm finding that the game is much like Suikoden II -- it's worth more NOW then when it first came OUT! X_x

I've been checking my local EB for a few months now, trying to see if a used copy came in, and also been watching Amazon, EBay, and Yahoo to see what their copies go for. I've never seen one go under $50.

Is the game really THAT good to warrent paying that much for it? I wish I could get it cheaper somewhere. I've though about posting on the Buying/Trade forum but hardly anyone ever seems to offer PS1 RPG's on there. What would people advise me doing in my situation?

I was lucky enough to nab a copy about 3 months ago, minty fresh used, for only $9.99. I wouldn't count on finding that kind of deal again though :D (and yes, lightning does strike twice, the month before I got a sealed Suikoden II for $30 at a WalMart).

I'm not really into RPGs much (actually not at all) but I really love the way this game looks, it's probably the most beautiful 2D ps1 game I've ever seen. I'd almost label it as a platformer somewhat (from what I can remember) but it has a very unique battle system (from my experience with RPGs) where each of your party of 3 is assigned to a button (triangle, square and x) and you can press the button at any time when their meter is full to unleash the attack (or press several at once and let them all go at it). Good luck finding it, and I'll keep an eye out if another one pops up.

edit: got rid of the "ebonics" in one of my sentences.

I found this game a few months ago at a pawn shop for $8. It was totally complete and mint, so I thought I'd pick it up to sell on ebay for some quick cash. I pretty much hate all RPG's. They all make me gag with their cliche story lines and characters, but I popped it in anyway before I listed it just so I could see what everyone was raving about.

I was really blown away by this game. It really didn't play like an RPG at all...or at least a typical RPG: great voice acting, unique combat system, side-scrolling action, BEAUTIFUL animation and graphics. I wish all RPG's were this interesting and fun to play. It's totally worth the $50+ it typically sells for. If you do have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. It is so choice.

It's an excellent RPG: inventive, gorgeous, well-translated, and stocked with memorable characters and rewarding gameplay. The only problem is this: If you want to get the best ending (and you will, since the other two are scarcely endings at all), you'll have to satisfy an exact series of requirements, most of which are easy to miss if you don't consult a guide beforehand.

Valkyrie Profile (http://www.kidfenris.com/valkyriep.html) is among my favorite games, and it's well worth fifty bucks. But look over a FAQ before playing, unless you want to be horribly disappointed by the game's end.

Okay, if you guys say it's worth it, I'll snag a copy. There's a couple ending on EBay soon and hopefully I can get it for $60, including shipping.

Highly HIGHLY worth it! One of the best PSX RPGs, bar none. I picked up a factory sealed one for $35 about a month ago at TRU and turned it for $85 shipped on eBay

one of the last generation of games out on the PSX and it really shines compared to an early RPG like FF7.

Well, there's two that end tonight, right now around $48-51. At least if I hate the game it looks like I can re-sell it for that price. :D

I thought for sure this thread was going to be an article about the chick from Gauntlet.

I noticed your sniping wasn't very effective tonight. :(
SOrry , same thing happened to me last night with the Gamecube Broadband Adapter. Struck out 3 times.
Finally I started e-mailing everyone with one for sale , until I found a guy who ended and sold one to me . :D

Oh well ,maybe better luck for you on tomorrows auctions.
Or maybe someone here has one ?

Oh, so you noticed? :) Yeah, I just don't want to pay more then $55 straight for it. But there's no lack of copies for sale on EBay -- if I'm patient I can finally get one for the right price. Had to put in a bid now for the next one cause I'll be taking a pre-work nap when it closes.

I've been checking the buying/trading forum here, but no one ever offers any PS1 RPG's -- at least, I have'nt seen this come up.

I'll gladly pay someone plus extra if they happen to get me a copy. :D But I think I'm on my own. Just wanted some advice.

I said this in the eBay Insanity forum awhile back: Check your Toys R Us! Mine had 2 left for 21.50! I bought them both, and sold them on ebay making a nice little profit ($55 and $59 respectively)

This game was a refreshing change from the "cute" RPG's i've ben stuck playing lately (like Grandia... I had such high hopes for that one.)

Any game that starts out with one of the main characters being slapped by her hateful mother and then sold into slavery is o.k. in my book.

Well, guys, my Toys R Us did'nt have any, but I decided to stop at my local EB in the mall next to it to see if Railroad Tycoon 3 for the PC had come out today (it had'nt).

I got lucky and found a used copy of the game in mint condition for $35. With my EB card discount and plus tax I paid about $33.60 for it. Not bad.

And like I said, I can sell it on EBay if I really hate it. :)

Thanks for all the help.
