When I was in college, one of my roommates was a hardcore Sony fan. I owned a Dreamcast, which he regularly called "Dreamcrap." I was furious, especially considering the PS1 system had some games I really wanted to play but couldn't on my system. I picked up the PS1 a couple of years later, meaning I now had both, so it was a moot point. It just drives me crazy knowing he was 100% right when he said my Dreamcast was "doomed to fail."

It would have to either be my boxed, legless virtual boy or the severly cracked Ecco tides of time case with instruction manual and game I bought at a local flea market. Though, Ecco was only a dollar so... meh.

Update since my original post (on page 3):
-I traded off Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (SNES) a long time ago.
-I got a lock on my bedroom door a long time ago. My younger brother still borrows games from me but he's more trustworthy now.
-I still have Simpsons Wrestling, still have yet to play it again.
So what's the worst insult to my collection now? A loose Sonic Advance cart for the GBA. Good game, but the label's pretty faded. I plan to replace it with the Sonic Advance/Sonic Pinball Party combo cart sometime since Pinball Party's on my want list.
UPDATE (3/17/08): Sonic Advance has since been replaced with the combo cart.
Three-P

The Three-P has some collection regrets. Three in total.
1-Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. (PS2.)
After playing this and watching the boring movies, I agree with Randall Graves. "There's only one return, ok? And it ain't of the King, it's of the Jedi." This is one precious I'm not whippin' out any time soon.
2-Mortal Kombat Mythologies-Sub-Zero. (PSX.)
I heard people talking smack about MKM-SZ, but had to see for myself. I should've listened. Playing it for an hour felt like a sharp kick to the scrote, only twofold.
3-Eternal Ring. (PS2.)
This has got to be the second worst game in the history of videogames. The only one worse than this would have to be Hydlide for the NES. Playing Eternal Ring with its one-wrong-step-and-you're-fucked rule had the same "kick to the scrote" feel that Hydlide did. Only after 2 minutes, Eternal Ring was accompanied by a very minor sense of accomplishment. *pimp-slap!*

worst insult? probably when my ex stole my genesis, super nes, and skullmonkeys, cause she knew it was my favorite ps1 game. ughh

Well there's quite a few craptacular games. But one item that seems to take the crown is that horrible Coleco TV muti-game that's been released. I got it cheap at a garage sale in a plain white box. It is just name whoring at it's worst since the games have nothing to do with the old Coleco logo, and the games are just terrible.

I bought my brother HORSEZ for Christmas as a joke, taping the receipt to the front so he could go exchange it for a good game. He laughed, but then forgot to return it in time, so now it languishes in his collection, invalidating every other great game he has like a cancer. I'm nice like that. :D

Dead to Rights 1 and 2 sitting on the shelf next to the rest of my PS2 collection insults it daily. I would trade them in but I doubt I will get more than one dollar a piece for them. Any takers?

I've got a Sonic 3 cart with all of the following:
front and rear blockbuster stickers
clear stickers over top of them
used game stickers from some store
"garage sale" pricing, aka marker overtop of the stickers.

Mostly just insults online with lowball prices/trade offers. And of course my family likes to give me shit for playing/collecting games.
A few girls at work have to but recently had a few girls over for a wii party they totaly dug the wii and thought everything else was cool to-I swear that system is a babe magnet had a hell of a time that night :)

the worst insult i had ''online''
was Beeing fasly accused of ''sold an arcade to a guy'' last year
In a group in canada called cgcc (not a good bunch if i could add that)
sorry for the ones who actually enjoy this place...
but in the arcade section they are just a bunch of ''friends that bashes every new comer , & make fun of you if your not in the ''CLICK''
They still accuse me to this Date to have robbed the guy off
when i never did it
& it still pisses me OFF
Big time!
I never fucked no one
I have proofs all over
on digit press i bought , & sold ,
www.racketboy.com
www.ebay.com
& many many many more!
If you want to know how the story went
I tryed to Type it as good as i can
sorry im ''french'' so don'T expect nothing fancy there :)
The Story was:
HIGHSPEED = RICK FUSCO = rick_fusco@hotmail.com : from alymer
(if you ever see him on ebay , or on a website, ) DON'T TALK TO HIM , don't trust him don't buy nothing don't even look at his stuff!
He s Sales on ebay & kijiji ottawa
When i first started In the arcade Hobby
I didn't have a clue who was good & who was bad..
all i wanted is to buy my first machines
and find good deals & helpful people
He sold me a machine that was a Red painted neo-geo machine
He was pushing me to buy buy buy buy to deliver it The next day trying to deal me all over
after a while i decided to buy it since : it was suposed to work 100% & i didn't have any cabinet & i was excited to start the hobby
I payed this machine around 380+ shipping 60$ (can,t remember exactly)
It arrived at my house ....
all broken up not like on pics
sticky red ''a** crap paint job''
I was dessapointed but i told myself ,hell if the monitor & PCB board works im gonna gut this peice of junk & throw it away no trouble....
We got it inside my house
He left as soon as it was done
like lighting fast
He had some ''buisness he said'' or some other deal to do....
<I plug this garbage in
The monitor was bleeding red colors , it had signs of screen burn dated of BURGERTIME era but SEVERE , plus the neo geo pcb was faulty.... it had a short on board ....
I knew i just got fucked over
....,
I emailed Highspeed
I told him : What the f***!
He then replyed
you know those things happen ... blah blah blah : buy a new pcb on ebay i can't do mess blah blah.
It happened to me when i delivered to cRaig = user : teamatonic
blah blah blah blah ......
ok but huh?
so basicly he didn't want to exchange me nothing.
not even Give me an onze of money back
alright then I was madly mad
<I told him
:Take it back
He told me sorry i can't , but i will see what i can do
During that time
I then started to gut the cabinet (imagine a cab i just got & payed 380$ for .... already fucked up)
I listed it on maaca
as ''BURGERTIME CABINET + Control panel + EXTRA 19'' MONITOR for a price''
<rick calls me & says : HEy i can buy it tonight if you want but only 100$....
After 30 mins of discussion i decided to say yes
>His friend comes in
I think he comes on the forum
I will post his nick name once i find out
He gives me 100$
he doesn't have a clue what he is doing himself
he doesn't even know what he has to pick up
he pays me (NOT RICKs MONEY BUT HIS OWN MONEY)
& he leaves
DONE DEAL
Never planning to buy something from him
Then the BANG that everyone heard occured
Rick during all this time was talking to B1 on Cgcc.ca
& was making a deal , for the cab i was actually selling to rick
But he was ''talking just like if i was selling it to B1..... wich i didn't even know''
so i have been blamed for something i never did.
& many people know he has a fishy reputation here
Many has PMED ME FROM MAACA & hate him without knowing him
Please post to show yourself!
many from St-jean , montreal , & other areas
some even know him from ccjvq.com
He they all know he sales broken machines & sets high shipping but you rarely hear any blast Directed to him!
AND I QUOTE TERRY EDWARDS : B1 on CGCC.Ca
Email received : march 27 ; 2007
He orignally said 400 then 300 and I laughed at him...
( I told him a friend would do it for nothing...so that should answer your
question as to if we are friends)
we know each other from the cgcc.ca and have had some deals in the past...but
not friends...
Email received : march 27 ; 2007
Yes slimy is what you think it is...not always a bad person...but can be
High pressure sales; will tell a person anything, like a used car
salesman...
Take care
Terry

Poor little prick... I mean rick....
I always found terry's remark priceless on this one i kept the email for that
just for fun
theres more but i keep them was evidence in case of.
In conclusion:
I was a victim (BOO HOO HOO )
I learned a hell of a lesson there in this deal
im glad i took part of it
since Now i know how people crook there way in to make a buck or 2
Just had to Make a mention , since insults can be done verbally & online aswell.
some take it lightly but not me I take pride in serving well!

I've been trying to play ALF on the Sega Master System. I've known it was a notoriously bad game with a checkered production history, but man, this is bad. Like who thought up the idea that the Alfer needed a salami stick to beat away bats with? If anything they'd probably flock to it. Stupid, stupid game!

The biggest insult to my collection was my own stupidity. Back when the NES was new, my dad smartly saved all the game's boxes and put them away. A few years ago (before I got into collecting) I found the box of boxes while cleaning out my room. I was desperate for space, so I figured these had to go. So, I took out the manuals (at least I saved them) and took the boxes outside and burned them. There was nothing too special, but they were in mint condition and even had the styrofoam. It was a couple years after that that I got into collected and soon realized what an idiot I was for doing that.

I'm pretty lucky with my family. They've grown up with my obsessions. My wife's family collects everything under the sun, so they usually don't say much. Well, her dad anyhow. Her mom has been known to borrow a game or 2... :)
My wife gets into some of it with me. She doesn't mess with older computers, but she does get into the NES days, SNES days, and DC era pretty well. The Wii I bought was actually for her, because she was extremly excited about its launch.
My kids are into it as well. My son not only plays the NES(loves Duck Hunt!), Wii(Mario Galaxy, and he's only 3!), and the gaming PC, he has his own iMac G3 with a few child oriented games. Sabriel(who's 1), pretty much plays whatever we are at the time.
I guess the general thought everyone has is
a) the bills are paid, and we have a nice place to live and good vehicles
b) I'm not out in the bars and running all over the place, ignoring my family
c) it's a huge bonding time between the kids and I since I'm getting them into it as well
So, I win any way you slice it!

Since I only collect games that I personally enjoy, there are no crappy games to insult my collection. The only insult I would consider is my CIB Dragon Warrrior 2 (NES). I have all 4 Dragon Warrior games on the NES, 1,3, and 4 are CIB and in Mint condition, but my copy of Dragon Warrior 2 the box is so beat up, I wont keep it on my shelf with my other Dragon Warrior games.

Achika's post brings to mind something I felt similar about- who openly displays their stuff and shows it off and who is more selective about who they show it to? I'm of the latter, though I can afford to be secretive without being a shut in. I've only got about 130 pieces and it takes up a 4 foot square area in my personal bedroom.
I display my collection PROUDLY. I don't care what anyone else thinks or says.

Anybody who questions me for my collection, I simply ask them what their hobbies are. Either a) they're comparable in cost and scope, like my brother and his $6000 track bikes (not to mention his $30 000 Porsche), or b) they don't have any hobbies at all, which is the cue for a serious ripping.

christ, it's not like i've earned 200K in my life, I've not even spent enough to get a damn Kia!
every time someone asks me if I have any kid games like barbie or bratz. i collect what i want to play, not what's available.
every time someone says i must have like 5000 games and should give some away cause they have too many and only have 20 or 30.

Biggest insult for me is that I have more gamecube games than NES games, which is kind of sad. In fact, looking at my small collection (290 games) I have more gamecube games (27 games) than NES (26), SNES(21), Genesis(24), and N64(18). kinda sad if you ask me.
The worst games I have? Luckily, I got them both for free, from a friend who hated them. Castlevania: Legacy of darkness, and Mortal kombat mythologies: subzero for N64 are pretty bad.

A friend of mine came over to my house one day just to hang out for a little while, and when we were in my bedroom, which is also my game display room, she looked around and said "This is why we could never date; your love of video games would get in the way." We're pretty good friends, so I know it was only in jest (I don't think we'd ever consider dating anyway) but I took it as both a compliment and an insult.

Uh, does getting games because they are easy and then bragging about them later count?
I got Barney's Hide and Seek back when I used to be into naughty bad things, and wanted something that I could fly through. I bought the game solely because of how easy it was.
It is also like joy said back in 03 about it not meshing with the rest of the genny games. Blue spine??? WTF???

Shaq-Fu (SNES)
Kris Kross: Make My Video (Sega CD)
Granted, I did buy them specifically for how bad they are (and in the case of the latter, for a bit of nostalgia for that brief period in 3rd grade where we all thought two rapping preteens with their clothes on backwards were cool), but I do have to live with the knowledge that I actually paid money for those.
Also, Ghostbusters (NES). I've heard rumors of some people actually enjoying it, but I always thought it was just awful.

It could be a number of titles.
For PS1
Incredible Hulk: incredible blob is more like it
The Crow: City of Angels--so if I'm an undead killing machine ho come these dudes keep knocking me down so easily?
For Xbox
The Guy Game: whats even more embarrasing is that I have two copies

Probably the worst insults towards my collection came from my sister (She stopped complaining about me liking older games since she discovered the Castlevania series). Whenever I'd get some games or systems at a garage sale, I'd have to hear her complain about me wasting my money on old games (Because she saw anything that wasn't modern as being worthless junk).
Item wise, my biggest insult would probably be my lack of a 32X. I have 2 games for it so far, though I still can't find a 32X at a reasonable price.

cyber speedway for sega saturn, its an ok game, it plays sort of like wipeout. The only problem I have with it is the voiceovers (a black guy noticeably voiced by a white guy, an alien voiced by an annoying girl!) the voices sound like they were voiced by a group of drunks! You just have to see it for yourself.

While most people respect my collection, I occasionally get people who comment "Why do you collect old games when you could get new games with better graphics" and "You should sell all those games to get lots of money". I then usually explain to them why I like classic gaming, but they will ignore me and go on about how much money I could make. Jerks.
I also hate it when people toss my games when they are digging through my collection. I always set stuff down carefully, and I always cringe when somebody just tosses a game onto a hard surface, or worse, onto other games. I like to take care of my games, not destroy them by tossing them.

every time i bring someone over and they look at it and claim i must have spent enough to buy a house.
I hate that. My friends act like I spend millions on games when in actuallity, I am very picky to what I pay for and how much. The most I spend on a classic game when found in thrift shops and such is 5 bucks.

I just remembered another "insult".
When I used to live in Missouri and would invite people over to check out my collection, most of them would claim that I am rich, when really, I am relatively poor. Really though, I get most of my games dirt cheap and yet everyone thinks that I spent a fortune on them. I don't really know if thats an insult but it really irks me when people say that.

so I was talking to a friend about how I found a game 2.99 worth around 100. He was like "well, it maybe worth 100, but are you really going to find someone to pay 100 for it, I mean who really collects video games?"... I was like umm.... "I do, and you know that..." oh sigh lol
