I was wondering about Sony's gaming line for sports, since I've never owned an NHL FACEOFF, NBA SHOOTOUT, etc...

Are these any good? I was told by a GameStop employee that EA and Sega make good sports games, but that these are crap as are sports games Microsoft puts out. Is he correct/wrong?

On the PS one, 989 Sports/Sony games were great, but on the PS2, they've indeed been total crap, with the GameDay series a particular embarrassment. Stick to EA and Sega for your sporting needs.

So if I am looking into PS1 games, I should get NBA SHOOTOUT 2004, NBA FACEOFF 2004 and NFL GAMEDAY 2004 if available?

Y'know, I'm not sure that 989 is doing PS1 titles anymore; I think '02 or '03 was the last year. I know EA released a PS1 Madden this year, almost certainly the last -- but that's what I thought the year before, too.
