Hi-
I was playing this game tongiht, and I remembered a couple things I was curious about-

in the first warp area, after you go through so many circles, you go about the 'clouds' and go through some more circles... after a few moments you can no longer go up, but there are more circles above you... anyone know if those are possible to get?

has anyone here ever beaten this game? if so- youre awesome... it is so hard.

i just had my best play yet- after a 4 or 5 month break,,,,
i started on stage one and got to stage 42 with a score of 704,244!

what a great game... if you love shooters and havnt played it yet- it is worth picking up an atari jaguar just to play this game

I do that too... every few months I revisit the classic Tempest 2000.

I've never beaten the game, from what I recall, somewhere in the 50's is as high as I've ever gotten. Last time I played I was pretty much stuck at 52.

The bonus levels... they END. When you can't go up any farther, you're supposed to go down, aren't you? An arrow should direct you to the next ring if it isn't on your level. There is a "last ring" on each bonus stage.

yeah ive made it to the end of the bonus level- but the FIRST time i warp... and it shows an arrow to go up- and you simply cant go up any higher... i can see the rings up above, but it will not let me aim up that high.

i cant remember how high i have made.. its probably late 40's.

i cant even imagine if it goes to a level 99...

You know you're supposed to run INTO those arrows, right? That catapults you up.

and if you dont then you get blocked off by an invisible barrier?
actually i dont even remember the arrows catapulting me up at all...
weird.

They do catapult you upward, but...on mine, I basically have to let go of the control pad to do it. For some reason, if I'm applying any presure to the control surface at all, it doesn't work correctly.

You CAN hit the invisible barrier sometimes by a bug. It doen't happen that often, but sometimes, you'll hit the up arrow, and still won't be able to get the top most loops. Nothing you can do about it, rare bug, move along :)

And yeah, those are the best damn bonus stages EVER.

I don't know about any barrier, I've never encountered the bug these guys are referring to. If you DON'T hit the arrow you end up flying past it and thinking "how am I supposed to get to those rings way up there" :P

When you complete all 100 levels, you get Beastly mode, which is basically harder as you can't fire as many bullets. Complete all 100 on that... and well, you're a god. And I know a couple of "gods" ;)

I could finish this game handily if it weren't for...the "inside out" stages. The ones where the directions are reversed. I will build up a nice reserve of extra lives, and have them wiped out on those stages. Especially the one with two loops next to each other (like an infinity symbol)...the controls are reversed in one loop, but not in the other!

huh, well every time i start from stage one and get my first warp it always does that before i can finish.. every damn time....
the second warp through it doesnt though.

if you do apply pressure, then you are screwed- you get the "bug" that sylentwulf mentioned... youre friggin' stuck. this was my problem all along.

mystery solved- i finally cleared the first warp tongiht.

damn you guys, now I have to pull out my jag just to see my high score. And then I'm going to have to play it... and play it... and play it.
