Nintendo's selling the GC for £79.99, as a last attempt to save the console, seems to be paying off. Some shops are reporting to sell out of the GC, and some shops even sell the system for £69.99. Nintendo is also advertising in the national newspapers with FULL page adverts. That is some pretty amazing effort to raise the sales for the run-up towards Christmas. The questions remains: Why now, is it because Nintendo's warehouse is overflowing with unsold consoles? Who knows, who cares, it's great for the gamers and also for granny, who can now pick up a cheap Christmas pressie for their grandchild.
But, some shops told me that once the console is sold out, they will not be re-stocking the Game Cube (or at least until the next cool deal comes around, eg as Argos (high street retailer) seems to be doing).
