we're doing a hero remake atm ... ptoing (http://www.ptoing.net) does the sprites, and i pixel the background tiles etc. it's kinda playable already ^^

we're keeping it gba compatible, but atm we're only working on a win32 version of it.

Just curious...what's the official title of the game? Is it H.E.R.O. or H.E.L.D. (the screenshot shows the latter, and it's German for, well, hero. :)

WOW, I love it! H.E.R.O's one those not as well-known old school games that deserves a remake on a modern system!

thanks for all the feedback so far :) most of the game mechanics work by now, the most difficult part will be to rebuild the original levels, this task takes quite some time (we've got the first 6 levels atm).
lendelin: yes, the title is h.e.l.d. captive, and h.e.l.d. is a rather close german translation of h.e.r.o. (helikopter einsatz lebensrettungs dienst). just a play of words :)

There is no rotor as ptoing - our sprites guy - is working on a new hero-sprite. :)

Well, I'm a huge fan of HERO so this has piqued my interest. Unfortunately, none of the picks are working for me and the website linked to in the first post is empty. Is this a problem at my end or yours?

Nice work. It definitely retains the feel of H.E.R.O..
