you might think: Huh? this guy had a saturn listed in his signature for month, wtf is he talking of

well, my listed saturn was/is a US-Saturn without games and controllers :p it works, but i've never used it, got it for 5.00 a while ago...

today i finally got myself a PAL Saturn, incl Box/Manuals, 2 Controllers, Sega Rally, Sim City 2000 and Christmas Nights, everything in perfect shape, only nights is missing it's box for 30 bucks incl. shipping

i hope i didn't pay to much, but i think i haven't seen saturns incl. box for that price for a while on ebay

i already own Panzer Dragoon, what other games should i get? i'm aware of the top20 saturn list, i'm searching for sleeper hits/ unknown gems

btw: can i use the ac-adapter and av-cable that come with my pal saturn with that us saturn??

Get the $10 adaptor to play imports -- that's where most of the gems are.

Only sega system I own or have ever owned is a DC. Got it not too long ago for 20 dollars, with 3 controllers, light gun, fishing rod, and a VMU. Only game I have is Soul Calibur. I need some more.

I don't think you over paid with shipping included.

I know this maybe bad form and bring me great ridicule, but check this thread out. He bought a collection of PAL Saturn magazines and is going through the top 100 games with their score, and a little blurb about the game. So far it seems like fair scores and no BS for what I've played on the list.

Kikko is a good guy, and I've tried to introduce him to this site as well. He really loves the Saturn and you can tell by his posts.

I'm not sure about the last question you asked, I'll do some checking.

In my experience, the saturn version of symphony of the night is sweet, if for nothing else then being able to play as Maria. Tempest 2000 was a neat port worth checking out if you don't have the game already. you can't go wrong with Street Fighter Zero 2 or 3. Magical Drop 3 was another good import title. Galactic Attack/Layer Section/whatever its called in europe was an awesome shootemup, and of course, the whole panzer dragoon series is worth it. I was also a fan of the strategy game PTO 2, but most other people may have trouble getting into it.

If you're an anime fan, there's a ton of import anime titles you can get. Plus, you gotta get the great fighters like X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter.

I unfortunately don't have much for my Saturn, but those are definately on my list, as well as the import SotN.

I got my Saturn the other day...I'm NOT going to play the games that came with it much (five in all...Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV, Space Hulk (ugh a DOOM clone with "strategy,") Sega Rally, Virtua Cop (with the gun, which is good) and Hexen (which I might just play a bit).

Gotta get an import system some time.

... and Hexen (which I might just play a bit).

Run away from Hexen as fast as you can....ugh, what a mess! If you're looking for a great, obscure Saturn title, I'll keep banging the drum for Mr. Bones. A unique platformer only released on the Saturn. Each level has a different style of play, plus something you don't get with many games, a blues soundtrack!

I have Hexen on my N64. It was somewhat fun to play multiplayer, but the single player mode was only okay. It's probably because the game was so hard to look at. I can't imagine how it must look on Saturn.

If you want to play Hexen, I'd say the PC version is the way to go.

Thanks guys! I had Hexen on PC long ago, and while I had fun with it (and its predecessor Heretic; still haven't played ShadowCaster -- a sort of spiritual 3D predecessor to Heretic -- though I have it in the box) I really don't feel like spending too much time in the mid-90s FPS genre right now. Though the nostalgia is certainly helping wear off the jaggies ;0

I'll have to search around some more for good Saturn titles, take a look at that list. I'll also see if I can't find this Mr. Bones, too.

I enjoyed Hexen on the PC, but didn't bother to play it through until I got the Saturn disc. I've always thought it was an excellent game - with more depth than the standard FPS affair. Another related, underrated title is Heretic II. It's of the Tomb Raider style of game, but much better in my book. One of the three PC games I've bothered to purchase in the past four years.

<furthertangent>Heretic 2, unfortunately, may be the last fantasy action game that Raven makes for years, if ever. Oddly enough, it came after Hexen 2 (remember that Hexen was the "sequel" to Heretic) and looks a whole lot better. I haven't played through many FPSes (or similar action games; Heretic 2 is a third person game) and Heretic 2 is no exception. Still, it's been said that after playing Heretic 2 you expect a lot more out of the camera. Best camera I've seen for a third person game, though not as flexible as Super Mario 64 and it doesn't allow for side-views of your character.

To Hydr0x or anyone else who has a Saturn:

I can make no higher recommendation than Guardian Heroes. Published by Sega + developed by Treasure = delicious combination. Think of it as Street Fighter meets Golden Axe in an anime-style explosion. Great stuff, definitely one of my top 10 of all time.

Ah, the Saturn is my favorite system of all time. I have 49 games for it, more than any other console I have.

I highly refcommend the following:

-Guardian Heroes: As stated ealier, it's Street Fighter meets Final Fight in cartoon-like visual style. Not to mention, 6-player simultaneous free-for-alls, hilarious dialogue, multiple endings, and just plain FUN.

-Powerslave/Exhumed: Easily the best FPS on the Saturn. Set in an egyptian setting, the visuals are amazing (by 32-bit standards), and the gameplay is great.

-Panzer Dragoon Zwei: Stunning graphics, tight control, multiple paths, and great music

-Panzer Dragoon Saga: I'm not saying this because of it value or rarity, but rather that it is the most unique RPG I've ever played. Great story, awesome grapics, depth, this game has it all. It's highly sought after for a reason.

-Any Capcom 2D fighter (w/ 4-meg ram cart if applicable): Arcade perfect. All of them. No pixelization, sharp visuals, no missing animation, perfect control, Street Fighter Zero 3, and Night Warriors are probably the best conversions of all.

-Virtua Cop 1/2: If you like light gun games, these games are great, and actually have better visuals than the aracade versions.

some others: Sega Rally, Thunder Force V, Nights, Metal Slug...

Does that have an Iron Maiden soundtrack?

I have X-Men Vs. Streetfighter w/the RAM cart if you're looking for it...would be happy to trade it off! :D

Thanks for the offer, but I don't trade. That would mean I'd have to get rid of something. :D

And my funds are severely limited these days. I've been having to stick to $2 NES games lately, lol.

Not that I'm aware of (at least in the North American version)...

Damnable antenna/4 pin output! I couldn't get the Saturn to show up on my TV, and after trying a number of things I gave up and played a bit of Morowind on XBOX :P

Isn't there an A/V cable for the Saturn?

my saturn came with a scart-cable

Yeah, you lucky people :)

I'll have to try and find one. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough on Google anyhow. All that remains are the recommendations if there's some known issues about the A/V cords...heh, as if there could be issues.
