Are Game Genies worth *this* much? I know of a shitload I can pick up (NES, Genesis, etc).

No, Game Genies are definitely not worth that much. Somebody should email the bidder to see what exactly he was smoking at the time. If anybody can get a response out of him, post it.

$400 for a game genie i should sell my nes game genie with book for that price i would make a $388 profit

For that much, I'd personallt deliver the Game Genie to the bidder. Of course I think some bidders are a bit flaky as there's no way even with that 2 books it'd be work $400. $40 maybe but even then that's still insane.
(PS there was another bidder who bid $2,000 but his bid was cancelled)
