I saw this today, complete for $25. The discs had a decent amount of scratching (probably would play fine), worse than what I normally want to buy. Bad idea skipping it over?

Probably.

If it had everything (like the omake box, and instruction manual) it would have been worth it.

You could have gotten the discs resurfaced.

I'd go and get it if I were you. Don't forget to let the end credits play since there are another couple of hours of gameplay afterwards (with a much better ending).

On this topic, how much is different between the original Sega CD versions of the Lunar games, and the PSX remakes?

Definitely go for it if it is complete, and get the discs resurface. Complete copies of these (with box and docs) go for $60. I would definitely go pick it up.

A lot. Hardcore RPGers prefer the gameplay of the Sega CD versions, as the remakes were greatly simplified with easier dungeons, easier and non-random combat, and fewer spells. The PS1 editions, however, have much better and MUCH more storytelling and dialogue. I consider the story to be the most important aspect of an RPG, so I prefer the remakes. (I am, however, incredibly biased.)

Thanks. I, too, mainly care about the storylines, so I'd probably go for the PSX versions as well. But I wouldn't mind picking up the Sega CD games just for my collection.

With the cost of resurfacing all, 4/5? discs, wouldn't it be around $60? It had a book, a case with a baggie with a bunch of game pieces, some other stuff. Very similar to the Arc The Lad Collection box set.

Most re-surfacing is $4-5 a disc. But they can't all be scratched , can they ? Most of the time it's just disc 1 or 2.

Instead of resurfacing, could you just use a Disc Doctor?

Dude... Why don't ya just play it instead of being all like trying to resurface them. Those PSone games can take one hell of a serious beating.

B'sides, if you do come across a problem you can do one of two things... Resurface the damn thing, or buy a cheap one on ebay without all the doo-dads and get a working disc that way.

If you want the games to be worth something, skip these piles of crap and get them professionally done.

Remember that both silver star story and Eternal blue PSX came with a bunch of goodies. They are not worth $60 unless at least nice (ebay mint.)

What a difference a year makes! I remember seeing these box sets all over town for $20.00 in 2002. Glad I got them when I did.

One small shady fact about these PSX remakes is you can't just copy them like most PSX games and there is no patch to fix it. A lot of info is kept on subchannel data that only a program like CloneCD will get. Anyway, one of the reasons their price is higher on Ebay.

As for story they made Alex and Luna older.. I'd say they were 17-18 in the PSX version. They did this, obviously, to add more love into the story and character dev.

.

I did not no that. Weird ,wacky stuff. :hmm: Have you actually tried. I had several boxed sets that I just sold and I never tried to copy them. I've never had a prob with any other PS1 disc though.
But CloneCd will do it ?
Hmmmmm you learn something new every day.

YOU? Biased about Lunar games?!?! NAWWWWWWWWWWW :D hehehehe

I agree though....for most gamers, the newer versions are far superior....though Lunar EB had some really slow spots IMO!
