I loaded the latest Nvidia driverset (v5) last night to find that hardware stretch in Mame would not work anymore! It actually just gave me a black screen, although you can hear the sounds playing. I reverted back to the last driverset (v4523) and I'm fine again. Just a warning to Nvidia owners. I am not sure if this happens on all cards, but it certainly happens on the TNT2 series.

While the 52.16 drivers would give me black screens in Mame with HW Stretch (which I believe to be because they re-wrote some part of the anti-alias code in this driver) I tried the version right before this (v52.14) which works perfectly. If you run into the problem I spoke about with the latest driver and really want to update, try this one. I got it from Guru3D, which also happens to be an excellent source for just about every driver ever released for the Nvidia chipsets:

Update: Wow! These drivers are really nice. I am able to achieve nearly 60fps in Street Fighter EX Plus under Zinc with my old ass Riva TNT2 32mb card. I never thought it would happen :)
Update 2: Well, out of all the crappy drivers I have tried from Nvidia, these are really looking good. I have been testing emulators all night and everything is running very smoothly. I had a problem with Gens for the longest time randomly flashing while in game. This no longer exists with the 52.14 driver. Good deal! Too bad this driver was the beta release, while the 52.16 driver (that gave me the problems) is the official release. Go figure.

Thanks for posting this zektor. I'm also a Riva TNT2 32mb card user. I was thinking maybe I should update my drivers. I haven't since I bought my PC in '99. I haven't had any problems like you mentioned just using the old drivers. I'm amazed at how this card is still able to handle most anything I throw at it after this many years and new versions. These cards are never really utilized before the new version is released every 6 months. It's always worked great for me with MAME and the TV output is a great feature.

Yeah, the card is indeed a great one. I purchased mine for $25 on ebay a while back...I love this card. I still have no real reason for getting anything new to tell you the truth! Ohh, I also found these modded nvidia drivers which work really nice as well:
