I was a few days late in picking this up b/c I was out of town, but swung by the shop last night on my way home and grabbed the new PS2 Macross game.
Bandai has always been very hit and miss w/ their anime-based games. Gundam illustrates it perfectly - there are some flat out awful ones, and some brilliant ones. Most Macross games have been pretty mediocre with the exception of Eternal Love Song and Scramble Valkyrie. Macross M3 was mediocre at best.
This, however is awesome, but then again - what else would you expect from an AM2 developed game.
Pick it up - it's fantastic.

This game was okay, I liked some of the subtle effects like shell casings hovering in space during the Zentradi battles around the SDF-I, but it didn't have a ton of play time value. My ADD quickly decided it was best relegated to the pile of games I likely will never pick up again, that I only purchased out of a devoted mania to the license.
SF - Now, those big diecast transforming Veritechs? Color me sold. If I ever find Roy Fokker's, I will sell my momma.

Nice Nic! :)
I know some people will find it drab and a bit repetitive, but I think they did an outstanding job on the graphics and sound, and it's not boring. Seriously - what's the last good 3D shooting game (besides Panzer Dragoon Orta?) and then when was the last good Macross game? Those two points are probably hyping it up for me.

It was really pretty to look at, the cel animation was very true to form, and the lens effects and mecha design were lifted straight from the series. The controls were kinda crap though in my opinion. Could be me, I am after all..

How does it compare to the Robotech game released in the states?
