Has anyone ever had any tense moments when buying a game?

Example: You see a game at a gamestore and make fun of it, then you get home and realize its extremely rare for the system. (which happened to me today, and thats why im hitting GS early in the morning)

I've had tense moments while gaming, usually with massive boss fights, but not with collecting.

What game did you pass?

What game was it.

I remember seeing Klonoa at a video store with their previously played stuff and thought how much I liked the demo. It was tagged at $19.99. Screw that I'll gett it on eBay for half the price. This was several years ago before it was considered rare or was even in that much demand. I forgot about it and now I'll have to pay 2.5 times what the video store wanted.

Not exactly tense but it is similar to your example.

It's kinda different but it was tense, almost leading me to strangle the seller this weekend.

At the flea market this past weekend, I had picked up a 5200 + controller, sealed INTV game, and a NIB Game Brain for 2600. The seller quoted me a price of $20. Told her I'd take it, handed her the money, said thanks, put my hands on it and was getting ready to grab my stuff when she wouldn't let go. She starts looking at it again and was like "I don't know....let me make a phone call first". She starts walking away with my money and the Game Brain, then she turns around and tosses my money back at me and tells me to hang onto it for a minute. She starts dialing her cell phone, which apparently got majorly wet and wasn't working. So after 5 minutes she comes back and I flat out say to her, "Look you quoted me a price. Do you want to sell this or take it home again tonight?" She said she was selling it for someone else and wanted to make sure she got the proper price. She finally let me have it after awhile.

Selling it for someone else? Ha, and that's why I see you there every time I go.

Tense? How about 95% of the time that I'm playing Monkey Ball? The other 5% is the menus and score tallies. That game is going to take 10 years off of my life, I swear. Maybe I can knock off another 5 if Sega release Super Monkey Ball 3.

I had one this weekend. I'm a notorious cheapskate, and when I got to the EB Games near my house back home, I saw Kartia for PS1 but I couldn't remember whether it was rare or not. It was 10 bucks, and there were plenty of other PS1 games that cost less than 3 bucks, so I decided to load up on those instead. When I went back the next day, it was long gone. I'm not really a fan of RPGs, so it's just as well. I've only played Vagrant Story and Saiyuki twice each since I've owned them.

On another note, the guys I know that work there intimated that whenever an NES top loader comes in, the manager buys it immediately. They refused to comment on whether or not he throws it up on Ebay...

Kartia isn't rare, is it? I bought it forever ago for, like, $10 because I heard it was supposed to be similar in style to FF Tactics, but I couldn't get into, and haven't played more than 30 minutes.
