NES Top Loader DEAD?!?!?

Help, I was in the middle of playing with my NES Top Loader and after I switched to a new game the system won't power on. I checked the plugs and they worked in my toaster so it has to be the system. Has anyone had a similar problem and/or know how to fix it, or am I staring at a $80 paperweight. Please tell me thats not the case. :(

I've never been in a top loader before, but I have had a fuse blow in a SNES. It was located near the power jack and marked 1.5 A or something similar. If this is the case you'll have to locate the fuse and determine if it is blown (Usually appears scorched or smells of ozone anyway) then replace it with a similar rating.

Since the 'reed' style fuse my SNES used was expensive and hard to locate I simply replaced it with a clip that holds glass tube fuses. Good luck, that's my guess anyway since when you turn it on the power LED doesn't shine, correct?

I'll have to ckeck that out once I get a tool bit to open up the damn thing. BTW, the second model doesn't have an LED. Thanks for the info.

You can take a plastic pen and take the ink part out, then heat the end of the pen with a lighter and shove it on the screw. It will form into the shape of the screw and after it cools you can use it to open up the nes.

Too late for that, since I already purchased a tool kit from our own Sylentwulf. Oh well, I just hope I can fix the problem.

Well my father and I check out the system today. We used a meter to check the power on the board and everything was ok up until a point where it loos burned. We of course have no idea what the problem is and we have no expertise with circuit boards so I believe I am screwed. Looks like I'll have to throw another 80+ into a new system. If anyone knows anything about Toploaders and how to fix problems in them please let me know.
