So I came across a Manhole G&W the other day. Unfortunately, I have no idea whether or not it is working, because it only contains one battery.
Even more unfortunately, I can't seem to find these batteries anymore. It says on the back of the G&W that it takes SR43 or LR43 batteries; the one inside is a Maxwell SR43W. Google searches don't turn up many hits.
Does anyone know what the story is here? Do these batteries still exist under another name?

Take it to Mr. Watch Man at Wal-Mart and he will most likely have a suitable replacement.

Ah, cool. I wish they didn't cost several times what I paid for that G&W, though.

You can easily find them. I saw some of those the other day at Target when I was picking up some LR44 for my new g&w :D

I just picked some up at Radio Shack for $3 ea.
These said "also use for: LR44" on the bottom of the package. I can't imagine LR43 would be much more expensive.

I don't even know if it still works. I thought they were the same batteries as one of the calculators I have around here, but I was wrong.

The batteries don't last very long, either. A couple months at the most. Thats all the life I've gotten out of them in my G&Ws. But for $3, who's to complain? Its the going rate for batteries.

Is it not proper practice to take the batteries out when the G&W is not in use? (Kind of defeats the "watch" aspect, I admit.)

That reminds me, back in the 80's I used to use an arsenal of Game and Watches and other handheld game with alarm functions to wake me up every morning for school. They all were synchronized perfectly and I'd awake to about 10-15 game and watches beeping at me LOL
And yeah.. eventually the batteries wore down :P
