I liked this thread when it ran before on EZBoard, so I'm reviving it, just in time for the "holiday season" of sales to begin! So, tell me.. All of us are going to open up a video game store, just one store to be run by ALL of the Roundtable gang. What would you name it? What would the hours be? How would you run it? Here's your chance.. Basically, describe how your dream store would be! Any games, any systems..
Here is your key, unlock the door and say what you see!

If I ran a video game store, I would put a "Closed" sign permantly, lock myself in, and have fun till I die of old age.

Well, I'd run it like it damn well should be run! My store would be called Max's Game Corner like my site, and I'd carry EVERYTHING. I'd let people have anything that wasn't insanely rare for really good prices (like $3-5 a game), and sell the rest (stuff like Mega Mans, FFs, and the more obscure desirables) at reasonable prices. If I found out any of my clients took advantage of my good prices by buying my stuff and ebaying it, I'd stop selling to them, cause I want to reach people that will PLAY the games rather than just resell them. I'd also offer game soundtracks of every type, as well as DVD anime, cause VHS sucks :) I wouldn't carry trading cards or other non-game stuff, but I would have strategy guides, PC games (dirt cheap of course) and any other cool video game merchandise (like T-Shirts, etc). TOo bad the loan I'd need to start the place would cost me several internal organs to pay off.....

In 1982 I wanted to open a videogame store and my dream was to carry every game for every system. I don't know if the store would have survived between the crash and the Nintendo NES but it's still nice to think about what if....
I'd have an Atari section - "Adults Only!" in the back of the store complete w/ swinging doors...well, maybe a few classic Atari coin-ops in front too...

Id do like everyone else.. buy the games for $1-5 bucks and sell em for $30-$40.
I'd buy game system obviously stollen that morning from the Target across the street for $50 and sell them for $189.99 because they are "new"
I'd find an old Combat cart hidden behind some old display and proptly put a $10.00 price tag on it.
I will mark up every game with a popular Mascot at least $10 more then the other games regardless of rarety.

- Be able to just give away SMB/Duck Hunts and Combats to whoever wanted them...
- Be able to lock the door electronically on customers that make you mad and then really mess with their minds...
