I just bought an original prototype for Lord of the Dungeon- but the real amazing find was a typewritten MANUAL signed by the programmer.

It appears to have about 25 pages (on 8.5" X 11 paper).
All I can say is ...WOW.

here is a link to the manual... keep in mind- its not in a printable form right now, but you could chop it up and make it printable... if anyone needs all the pages seperately i could email it to ya ( a little easier to print). i didnt include the cover page, which i will not be scanning yet. PS- It's 1.6 megs in its current form.

Wow! Good to know that the good guys are still working on winning the prototype collection battle (:

Yeah, I'd love to see that manual! Good stuff.

Somewhere, Aswald is crying.

Why would I cry? I have a cartridge copy already, and have written a manual myself, as well as having an early one. But that manual Wberdan has is going to be great!

In short- oh, happy day!

I just figured you'd be jealous. I know I am!

But jealous of what? I have the game, and will soon have a copy of the booklet.

JEALOUS OF NOT OWNING THE ORIGINAL

But it's the exact same game, isn't it?

:eek 2:

I give up.

Anyone else wanna take a crack at this? I'm exhausted.

Ah wait. I've got an ANALOGY!

You ask if it's the same exact game.

Is a reproduction of the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card the exact same thing as the original? Would you not be jealous, as the owner of a reprinted-in-2003 version of Action Comics #1 of the owner of an authentic Action Comics #1?

OK I'm done now.

Well, that's only true if you're a collector, which I'm not. As long as it works, reproductions are just fine.

Seriously- what would be the difference between an original LOTD and a reproduction? With a rare, original baseball card or comic book, there's always the chance that it'll be worth a lot of money. But a game cartridge? Really- what's the difference? I have a reproduction. I play it. Otherwise, it sits in its box with the other cartridges.

With the original, I'd, well...play it. Otherwise, it would sit in its box with the other cartridges. Who'd ever see it? Same people who see the reproduction: nobody. Will I ever get a lot of money for it one day? No.

It's not like a souvenier from the past, such as the Dutch Guilders and other things from my 1982 trip to Europe, the last time I saw my European relatives. Reproductions or copies of those would not be as good.
