Came across this very nice looking Odyssey 2 complete in box, including the styros and all...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3056156745&category=4315

...and wouldn't you know it, the usual bullshit appears in the auction...

Don't rememeber if this system works or not. Sold AS-IS.

I mean come on! The system is complete. You take the time to take a picture of it, upload it to ebay or your webserver, etc, but you don't have 5 minutes to hook it up to see if it works???

Either this guy is lazy, a moron (who doesn't know he'd get more by testing it) or a scammer trying to sell something that doesn't work.

I could see if it wasn't complete, but this is ridiculous.

i can only accept payments by Paypal

That right there's enough to put me off. The seller may find PayPal convenient, but a lot of people don't like it. What's wrong with waiting another couple days for a money order?

Thats worse if the seller is a DP member.

You saying Canadians are lazy? LOL Last time I checked, it was you Americans who were the lazy ones! :P But then again, we chose not to go to war with you. :D

As a general rule, I'd say yes Canadians are lazy. They are too busy drinking beer and watching hockey to get off their duff and plug in an Odyssey 2 to see if it works. :P

This is further confirmed by the fact that I have not received items that I won in 2 auctions from Canadian sellers over 2-3 weeks ago. :eek 2:

If payment is coming from the States, it's more like a week and a half. This is the reason I also only accept Paypal. I usually have a bill I need to pay right away.

Take it up with customs.

Man typing that was a lot of work. The english language needs more abreviations.

I believe so, I also think he was selling many things over in the buying & selling forum a week or two ago. When I posted that before, a new member, samuraismurfette, had just signed up for the boards and was the current high bidder. It's a pretty unique name for two people to be using it, so I can only assume it was them.

Stop with the Canada bashing. Lately I've been having better eBay luck with non-Americans.

You see in order for that to work the seller has to actually MAIL THE ITEM first, before I can check with customs. To date, I can't even get a response to my emails.

I've had packages get stuck in customs on their way to the states for over 2 weeks. And had them take even LONGER getting here. It's unbelieveable how badly customs screws stuff up when it stops a package. Trust me, if the seller shipped, it's not their fault, it's almost always customs.

Coming here from the US, I've found that the mail is rarely dependable like it is in the US (more often than here at least!). A letter can take 2 weeks to get here, or 3 days...it's totally random it seems. So money orders can be REALLY inconvenient! I prefer to take Paypal if I have bills to pay, and money orders only if I'm in no hurry for cash. I'd say 90% of all the people I deal with use Paypal, so if I lose a sale cause someone gets pissy over it, I really don't care these days. I just put it back out for sale.
