Heya folks!
I just finished work on a new animation, and I think it will be of particular interest to the folks here at Digital Press. It's called "Strategy Guide", and it's about an intergalactic space alien who reviews old Nintendo games.
http://www.sgcartoon.com
I'd really like to get some opinions on it. It's been passed around Newgrounds and there's been a lot of critical acclaim, and my voice actor and I were thinking about possibly turning this into an ongoing series.
Lemmie know what you think! Mods, feel free to move this to a different forum if it's inappropriate - but seeing as it's video game related, I thought I'd throw it in here. Thanks guys :)

Not only did you talk of Gradius, but you spoofed the Konami code!
"Up, Down, Left, Right, B, A, C, A, Left, R... SHIT!"

Well, that was...odd.
I wholly expected there to be a "Dangit, it's giving me that crazy flashing grey screen again!" bit, but I guess that's for another day.

Wow, I got a sticky! Wasn't expecting that at all :-P
Anyways, thanks for your comments. The cartoon has been a big success. It's currently featured on the front page of both newgrounds.com (http://www.newgrounds.com) and flashplayer.com (http://www.flashplayer.com) - I'm getting about a thousand views an hour. A personal webpage dedicated to the cartoon will be up soon (I hope!). Thanks for checking it out!

I've seen a LOT of these flash animations, and a lot that are "video game related", but very few that are entertaining and funny when they're supposed to be. Damn, you nailed it.
Brilliant work, Mr. Needle!

I have a question.
Isn't the voice actor the same guy who voiced a guy on a 404 error flash page (it was pretty much the only thing on the domain) and he's stand there saying "I've been looking at my hits log and noticed you keep coming back..." then ends with "well, it's ain't here, so it ain't here, so FUCKOFF!" and gives the finger? I can swear it's the exact same fellow...and maybe the same flash artist :>
(Sorry for anybody who hasn't seen that one, classic 404 error page if only it had a page to go with).

Seen it and loved it. Definitly has potential to be a series.

it's sweet, do more :)
i always thought that code was harder to do in contra tho, as you have to get it b4 the screen quits scrolling...

Do Castlevania for the second episode! Just a suggestion. :D
Anyway, who can post a link to that 404 Error page?

It's not this one. (http://www.culture.gouv.fr/culture/actualites/politique/pagsi/)
Still looking, wonder if it's down :O

The voice actor is my roomate George. Originally I was going to do the voices myself, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. He was more than happy to sit down for an hour and churn out the voices. There's a pitch-shift on his voice though, to make it higher, so that's not really what he sounds like LOL
I'm pretty sure this was his first voice-acting gig... I'm afraid I've never seen the 404 so I can't compare. Hopefully you'll find it, I'd like to see it!
MarioAllStar2600: It took ten days to make from start to finish. This may seem fast but when you take into consideration that I'm unemployed... I was pretty much putting in twelve hour days.
Castlevania is like, the #1 request for episode 2, but we really want to avoid doing two Konami games in a row :o It will definitely get spoofed in the future though. No doubt about it.

Okay, hold off on Castlevania. A suggestion for the next one: Ghosts 'N Goblins! ;)
Eh, why not? I could imagine Guido swearing up a storm at the Red Arremers. LOL LOL LOL

First time tried it, got no sound. Tried it again today, got sound. Weird...
Anyhow, great funny stuff :)
Though wasn't Gradius 1985? Or we talking the NES version year here? :P

He's talking about the NES version Mat. When he tells us "it's really fucking old" he's waving the NES cartridge around.

Just like the NES version of Ghosts N' Goblins came after the arcade version. HINT, HINT. :wink 2:
Besides G'NG, I also have a few suggestions for the next episode:
Ikari Warriors
Life Force
Abadox
Adventures of Lolo
Batman
Double Dragon
Contra
Ghoul School
Guerrilla War
Journey to Silius
Metroid
Kung Fu
Mega Man
Operation Wolf
Monster Party
Rygar
Super Dodge Ball
Tecmo Bowl
Strider
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Shadowgate
Zanac
Legend of Zelda
This is just a random NES game list. Take yer pick, but there are a lot more. You're not just confined to these choices. :)

That was damned funny - and I second the G'NG idea. :D

Great stuff! Congrats, I really liked it! Nice to see that someone is idealistic enough to put so much work into a project, and the work certainly paid off.

It's a good piece of Flash, well done!

I thought it was pretty entertaining, but a little slow-paced for a flash animation. It's almost as if it is a preview for a full-length cartoon.
Something that shouldn't go unsaid: there's a lot of "polish" to it! It's very professional.
