"Midway Games announced today a larger than expected loss for the fiscal third quarter as revenue fell due to a smaller number of titles released during that period. The company posted a net loss of $24.1 million, compared with a net loss of $11.8 million for the same period last year. Revenue fell to $11.6 million from $52.6 million. For Q4 Midway says it will ship 13 titles NFL Blitz Pro and RoadKill for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube, SpyHunter 2 and Midway Arcade Treasures for PlayStation 2 and Xbox and Justice League: Chronicles, Ozzy & Drix and Super Duper Sumos for Game Boy Advance. SpyHunter 2 and Midway Arcade Treasures for the GameCube will no longer ship during the fourth quarter. For Q4 Midway expects to post a loss of $13 million on $38 million in profits. For the Fiscal Year the company anticipates a loss of $100 million on $100.0 million in revenues. The company points to various charges, write-downs on development costs, severance pay, and cancelled titles for GameCube.
Can an Atari Inc./Infogrames buyout be around the corner?"
