Since this new forum allows us more poll choices, I've decided to redo the old G'NG poll I had on the other forum. The only games I didn't add are all Japanese releases - Arthur to Astaroth no Nazomakaimura: Incredible Toons (an obscure G'NG puzzle game released for the PSX and Saturn), Makaimura for Wonderswan, and Chohmakaimura R for the GBA. More than likely most people haven't played any of these. I also chose not to include Capcom Generation Volume 2 either.
So, here we go...

I've always enjoyed Ghost 'N Goblins the most. I remember playing it at the indoor soccer arena when my brother was playing soccer. I spent many quarters on it and never seemed to get far. I also have many memories of playing in on the Nintendo in my basement many years ago.

1st: ghouls and ghosts. Shooting up and down seems to make all the difference
2nd: Super Ghouls and Ghosts. Although SNES specific (and later psx) it's obviously 2nd best.:) Still good stuff, and lots of fun w/ great graphics.
3rd: Ghosts and Goblins: Just too friggin hard and frustrating. But it was first so there you go..
Gargoyles quests were interesting, but they're another story altogether.

@NE146 - I agree with you about Ghouls 'N Ghosts - the ability to fire up and down helped immensely. It may just be my imagination, but that, along with the speed and near-perfect control of Arthur, helped make Ghouls 'N Ghosts quite a bit easier than either Ghosts 'N Goblins or Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts. I was actually able to finish it!

yep. It definitely made it "finishable". I was able to beat Super G&G as well but maybe by that point my skills were already polished.
However, Ghosts and Goblins... UGGH. I spent much money playing it at a local bowling alley and got as far as the houses (the ones with the windows). Then later when it came to the NES I thought "finally I can play this as much as I want for free and I can finish it!!! oh boy was I wrong, after hours and hours, I got damn far in the game and I think after one frustrating MARATHON session, I finished it once through! But to find I had to go through it again (this was before ghouls and ghosts so I didn't know about that).. so there was just no way.... and in the end the ONLY way I ever did finish Ghosts and Goblins.. was yes, to cheat.

Yeah, me too. I can barely make it past Stage 2 of the NES game sometimes... I can get further in the arcade game, but not much.
That Level Select code in the NES game sure does come in handy, doesn't it?

Super Ghouls n' Ghosts for me as my top. Great music play control and hard as hell to play. Demon's Crest is a close second for me.

I just had way too much fun back in the day playing gargoyle's quest for GameBoy not to vote for it. If anyone hasnt checked that game out, you definitely should.
