Vice City- "Rub Out"

Anyone go any advice for this mission in VC where you gotta save Lance (only to kill him in the next mission)? I'm debating trying to run in, or get another 10 packages (I have 70 now) for the Sea Sparrow coptor. Equppied I have the one-hit kill gun (the Colt is it?), the submachine gun, the sniper rifle and the bazookas, and the luger.

Get the colt pistol, sniper rifle, and rocket launcher with lots of ammo (no other guns if possible...scrolling throught can be lethal)

Take a helicopter to the Malibu Club and start the mission. Fly the helicopter to the road leading into the dump (Don't land in or fly over the dump! you will get shot down and die!)

Get out, and shoot the car blocking the entry way with the rocket launcher. Switch to your colt pistol and charge in there blowing the crap out of everyone but be careful not to miss someone....if you do, the Garbage Truck you need to steal will be gone! You will have to use your sniper rifle to pick off some of the guys.

After you talk to Lance, get in the Garbage Truck (or some other really heavy vehicle.....tank is preferable) and drive to the hospital. Any other lighter car will likely not survive long enough to complete the mission.

Note that once you talk to Lance, you should be safe as long as you are in the dump (provided you killed all the gangsters first) Cops rarely go in there.

The mission will be much easier if you have quick reload (getting 45 in the rifle range at ammunation), and 150 health/armor (beating level 12 pizza delivery)

I think this is the mission I am thinking of,
but what I found that made the mission alot easier is that there is a rear enterance to the dump (in reference to the main enterence its the far left side of the dump). From there you can run the entire length of the dump using that short wall of junk as a good amount of cover. I then used the sniper from a distance and picked off most of the guys inside the garage and then went in with the colt and finished the last few. Then use the colt to defend the guys that come in after you untie lance. After the close guys are taken care of, switch to the sniper and start taking them out at a distance. Then I think I ran up one of those conveyer belts and started sniping everyone else in the camp. By the time I was done, I had cleared out every guy in the camp.

The first time through the game I parked the helicopter at the rear of the building Lance was held in. You have to put it between to buildings so be carefull. Then snipe everone in sight.

Go get Lance. He's just around a corner. When it come tome to leave just shoot your way back with the colt. Then just fly to the hospital.

The second time through I had Cortez's bullet proof Admiral. It was a breeze.

Have you tried Gamefaqs? It has a couple of great walkthroughs for VC.

basically getting Lance out without getting killed myself, or findng somewhere to possibly land my helicoptor (Sea Sparrow) without it getting blasted.

Land the helicopter about halfway down the long road leading to the entrance of the dump. From there, jump out and destroy the car/people blocking the entry way with the rocket launcher.

Switch to the colt pistol and rapidly pick off everybody while charging towards the hanger. Remember, colt = 1 shot kill, so you don't need to worry about them getting back up. You need to make sure that they guys don't hop in the dump truck, because it is vital to the mission. (well not really, but it makes it a whole lot easier). Once you've picked just about everyone off outside on the ground, switch to your sniper rifle and get the guy on the crane. Switch back to the colt and kill the remaining guys inside.

Once you talk to Lance, his life meter stops going down, so you can kind of take it easy until you get out of the dump.

Be very careful where you lead him though. If he runs into the side of the garbage truck, he will die. Whether you're in it or not.

all this talk about helicoptors...and what not...not needed at all...

all you have to do is just drive there, and slowly and methodically pick off all the enemies kind of like how you play a fps shooter. don't go too fast or you'll have too many guys to shoot at once. you should just have one or two guys coming at you at a time. if you go at a decent pace you'll make it to lance when he has just a little power left. it's not hard at all. now just get in the car that's parked there and drive him to the hospital...easy as pie.

Not needed, but it makes the mission MUCH easier.

If you don't want to go the heli route there's a large truck there that helps too. It's easier to get him to the hospital because the persuers just bounce off the big truck.

I just drove a car in until it was on fire then I ran up the big tower back down into where lance is. Got the weapon from behind where lance was then actually into where lance was. Shot those bitches got into a garbarge truck and drove him to the hospital.
