Seems like an early night... but you guys started pretty early I guess.

Christian knows how to host a great event. Let's hear the details! How did it go with Larry Gelberg? Who played Space Ace on CD-i? What kind of beer was there?

And pictures. Definitely.

Beer, still sobering up a little :) It was early, but then getting home at 9:00 is late enough, wouldn't mind if then next time started a couple hours earlier ;)

we ran a 2-730ish meet, gotta work around the wife and baby ya know.

30 or so gamers thru the day and more trading than i've ever seen here before. the entire place was covered with trade boxes, even the kitchen floor! i was also pleasently surpised to see new levels of beer consumption, great job fellas!

for the first time ever DP members far outnumbered the rest, looks like the massive hype clubninja and i put in is starting to pay off. in attendence were myself, clubninja, chadtower, keir, soulblazer, toddst, sylentwulf, wberdan, punkoffgirl, kevincure and a host of other folks from around the region. the combined group represented every level of collecting from the basics to the advanced, every era and genre was traded.

larry was unable to join us today but luckily we had another programmer in the house - our own kirk israel. kirk debuted his 2600 game "joustpong" and after a demo session commenced a tourney to see who would win the one and only proto cart. many match ups were held and game skill reputations went down in flames as we discovered how fun and damn hard flap-flap pong can be. the final elimination match pitted clubninja against myself for the proto cart! now i've been known to throw a game of warlords in the past (for the sake of being a gracious host) but tonight there was games on the line! lets just there was some driving and crying on the masspike and joustpong remains in my 7800.

to clubninja- "you lost today kid, but that doesnt mean you have to like it"

i havent even attempted a tally of my game take yet but suffice to say its a big pile with some rare delights. i was happy to trade with nearly everyone in attendence and my shelves sag in salute to the great bounty of games recieved. even the old lady who picks bottles out of my recycling smiled tonight, we did some serious drinking. best of all i have more beer than i started out with, not bad at all! thanks to everyone for coming out and we cant wait to do it again in feb/march!

make ready the captions clubninja, cant wait to see the group shots.

oh and for the record many people played space ace, well i should say tried to play space ace, all and all it was a hit.

Best. Ever. Meet. Ever.

Holy crap guys - I think it's safe to say that everyone had a fantastic time today. More trading, more stories, more selling, more people, and more beer than ever before. The entire place was filled to capacity with happy/buzzed gamers and their boxes upon boxes of stuff.

I pretty much just got in, and haven't poked through my scores yet - but off the top of my head, they include a Channel F system, a Coleco Pac-Man tabletop, and a whole slew of carts and other goodies. I *think* everyone went home with some new goodies. Hell, even a guy who came with nothing to trade wound up with a beginner's Intellivision setup. Amazing time.

Well, I admit that this was a tight battle, but I figure that since you're getting over the hill a bit, I ought to let you have a victory while you can still appreciate it. Something about respecting my elders, I guess.

So yeah, pictures should be up and organized by tomorrow night. Thanks to everyone who turned up for this one! Oh, and Kevin, you should count your blessings that we never got around to Warlords ;)

As always, I had a great time. It was great to see the usuals, meet some new people, and make some trades. However, I think I made off best with the beer trade. I brought Schlitz and ended up drinking the better beer that others brought.

Thanks Christian,

Todd

Yep, it was a great time. Chris' wife is very gracious to allow us her home for such an event. I actually managed to trade away an SMB/DH/WCTM cart! How's THAT for a trade?! LOL

I'm sad to report that I was the first person eliminated from the Joust Pong tournament. KevinCure had the luck of hitting the first ball back at me and then watching me whiff on the next 6-7 balls before I got the hang of it... a deficit I could not overcome.

how about making the winter meet on a saturday so I can go? Anyone? Bueller? :D

I really need to make it to one of these but can't sacrifice the job for it, obviously.

I'm jealous, bah :)
