Has anyone on this board actually "completed" Vice City? Found all the hidden items, bought all the properties, finished ever mission, etc?

I have.
The hardest part was completing all of the arena challenges in first place (I'm damn proud of my 4:46 in the dirtbike event!)
I also had trouble getting all of the unique stunts to register.
Even with all the stuff you get after you beat it, I still haven't turned it back on to play it again.

I can't even get INTO the damned arena, never found a way to get in, or buy it....

It opens every day between 8pm and midnight. There are 3 types of missions there, you do what the billboard above the door says.
It helps to use the "speed up time" cheat. The door is only open for a few seconds, but at least you dont have to wait 30 minutes for it to open again.

I haven't even bought Vice City yet. I played GTA III all weekend just to see how many times I could elude the cops before I got caught. I've only finished 3 missions and I've had the game since last August.
I'll probably get the Xbox double-pack when that comes out. There's just something about being able to create your own soundtrack on the radio stations...

I completed all the regular missions, gathered all the packages, bought all the property, and probably finished 75% of the vehicle special missions such as the fire truck and ambulance stuff.
I just want to say this game is what I consider 'Buzzkill'. It's like the coolest game you've ever played, for about 2 weeks, and then ....you feel nothing for it. You realize it doesn't have staying power, with the same repetitive challenges to do over and over...and over again. I seriously lost my appetite for this game within a few minutes, and later sold my PS2 and games and haven't even thought twice about GTAVC since. I think it sucks that the game is that unsatisfying after completion, so much so that I wouldn't even want to waste time with it again. Glad I got my 16 bitters with me.

well I am well on pace for the 100%. I got all the packages and have completed all the side-crap OTHER than the firetruck (they really cranked the difficulty on that since III, I use to run that one indefinitely).
but I stopped playing the game, not because I'm not totally obsessed with the game. but I got to make it last at least another year (DAMN THEM FOR MAKING ME WAIT SO LONG FOR #4)
as far as the areana, its not that bad, its just incredibly frustrating because you have one chance and then you have to wait forever to try again. Personally, I felt the ambulance mission was wickedly hard.

The ambulance is a lot easier than in GTA3, just start it on Ocean Beach and a lot of the pickups will be right on the beach. You get a lot of time so you don't have to speed back to the hospital.
As for the firetruck, I found it helped to just stand a it back and use your hose without rotating it. Even if it doesn't look like it, it'll extingusish the cars and most of the flaming peds without you having to move.
I'm stuck on 99%, I'm missing one of the jumps and haven't been motivated enough to go and do them all over again.

I have 77% on the game, and cannont beat the damn fire truck shit because all of my guys jump onto somewhere where my truck cant reach, and i fail the mission on the last car.
Also: Very cool avatar Gunstarhero. :rocker:

I'd probably get 100% if I persist at it, but I only rented it for four days. I will get it someday, and when I have the time, I'd get around to doing everything possible. Before I returned VC, I got past the mission where Tommy and Lance had to set a bomb in the mall. That one was a tough. Stupid FBI shot me just inches from my mansion.
Well, now I have to purchase all the clubs and whatnot to complete those special missions before going through the end of the game. I really should get it back someday...

If I remember, I couldn't beat the Pizza Boy missions, or the Cop car missions. I found the Taxi cab to be the easiest, all you have to do is start on the longest straightaway in the game, which starts at the ship yard and goes to the biker bar area, then you end up just driving up and down that straightaway, they keep putting your pickups on that street.
I didn't even try for all the jumps, I lost interest by the time I was ready for those, that would have been some of the last stuff I needed to get 100%. All I can say is thank God for that soundtrack, I would have gotten bored after 1 week, instead of 2, had it not been for the awesome radio stations.

The cop car missions are by far the easiest.
once you unlock the Apache, you can use that instead. I made upwards of $600,000 before I just didn't care any more.

I found the Pizza Boy missions to be pretty easy, I did it my 2nd or 3rd time from the shop in Little Haiti after I had pissed off the Haitians. One thing that helps is to check the map in pause (it shows all the deliveries you have to make) and kind of plan each route.

oh I meant to say this, the best advice I can give is to complete as many of the side mission stuff before you do any of the main missions.
WHY?
well then you dont have gangs against you. the pizza boy mission can be hard as hell if you have to deal with gangs shooting at you and same with the ambulance (in III is was totally impossible to do the ambulance later in the game).

The gangs don't matter much in VC compared to 3, the only one that gets pissed at you are the haitians and allt hey have are pistols... nowhere nearly as bad as the mafia in 3.

Question, is it possible to get the Sea Sparrow coptor before you get the Mansion from Diaz? I have 79 of the packages and still gotta do "Death Row" (Save Lance in the junkyard).
Even without doing the misisons I come back and go on rampages to see how long I last or if I can get enough people pissed with me and still make it to a Pay N' Spray alive.

You get the Sea Sparrow after 80 packages. I'm not sure if you need to own the mansion but it will be parked in the back by the pool.
If you need a copter for that mission (it helps, but it's not necessary) you can get one on the top of the mansion or on the roof of the highrise you can buy on the north part of the second island.

Ah, I keep looking for it on the roof for some reason...and I know of the police and news coptors on the west island. I use them often.

After you get the required number of packages the sparrow is in between the pools near the dock at Diaz's place. You don't need to own the mansion to get it.
I got all 100 packages and the apache (hunter) is at the ARmy base, but I can't seem to get it. I've read gamefaqs but it wasn't much help. Can anyone tell me a good strategy to get the hunter without getting shot to death in the attempt?

Wear the cop uniform and walk right in. Don't get too close to anyone though.

It doesn't matter if you get close or not, just don't start firing weapons. If you complete the story missions (kill Sonny), the Apache will also be on the helipad on the south of the first island (south of the Ocean View Hotel -- it's next to a house and kind of obscured by some foliage).
