Would anyone value this at $115? Someone made this offer to me and frankly I don't see it being worth that much, but maybe I missed something. Can anyone shed a bit o light on this?

Honestly, it doesn't seem that unreasonable to me... Factory sealed RPGs generally fetch a pretty good amount on auction. I'm certainly never in the market for such things, but I've sold a couple other sealed RPGs for 2-4 times that much... assuming there wasn't a reprint, I'd imagine this title is at least semi-hard to find sealed, and it's certainly in demand (good game).

Really...and I thought $90 for a sealed CV3 was bad :D

In good shape complete , they go for around $50.00.
So I'd say it's a little high.
But then again I've never seen a sealed PS4 on EBay ,so maybe it's really hard to find new.

Isn't this the cardboard release?
I can't see myself paying that much for a cardboard game, really. Maybe...if the system only had cardboard box releases and it's nearly 20 years old LOL

Sealed copies of Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy III have sold for well over $200. Don't know much about Genesis games, though.

When this game was new in retail I remember watching my grandmother plunk down $99 for it. Now most games don't hold their value much in shrink but RPGs typically do, so consider that.

$115 for PS4 is pretty high. Sealed genesis games dont typically go for a lot more than non sealed, as SNES do. Id say most people would pay $65-75 for it. I doubt anyone else would go as high as $100

I think the proper way to put that is "Unpopular sealed games don't typically go for a lot more than non-sealed."[/quote]
Doesn't matter on the system.
Here's some price differences I've seen on sealed/unsealed games. Some I've sold, some I've bought.
Sapphire $400 vs. $650
RS $100 vs. $200 (more now probably)
Tengai Makkyou II $20 vs. $200 (no joke)
etc. etc.
The system has some to do with it, but it's more or less the game. Phantasy Star is stupid popular, so I'd say $115 isn't that ridiculous.

Still, not to poke a hole in this topic or Adam's possible big sale, I'd like to mention that I've been rather familiar with prices on that other stupidly popular PC-Engine CD-ROM game, Dracula X. I haven't seen a sealed one on eBay for a while but pricing on it has dropped rather remarkably since 2001-2002: From $170+ for a used copy without spinecard (which is what I paid off eBay by the way) to $130 for a used but "mint with spinecard" copy.
Nevermind that it used to go for $360 sealed, and I picked up a sealed copy just this year for $199.
I wonder if that'll ever become true of sealed x68000 games...hmm.

Yes, it is the cardboard release. In general, genesis games don't go for insane amounts brand new, but this game could reach this high on ebay. (If not higher) IMHO, I would rather have a nice minty shape complete game instead of a sealed one so I could actually play it and not feel guilty about removing the shrinkwrap. (considering nice complete ones go for between $30 and $50)

I usually like to get a complete game (for playing + scanning and other purposes of general information spreading) as well as a sealed game...if I had to choose, though, I'd get the complete game.
With the knowledge that this is the cardboard release (same as I've got) along with its rather un-PSIVish cover art, let me just say...WTF?

Yeah, in closing I decided against the sale. I'd like a complete one but sealed holds no pull on my wallet and paying that much for it seems too high when it could go to better things.
...like MVS games :D
