You went ahead and gave it to the high bidder ?
Even though the reserve wasn't met ?

I'm sure he just didn't give it there must of been money involved. ;)

So that was your lot! There were many people interested in it, I also saw a thread about it on AA, but the lack of feedback probably hurt you a bit. That's alot of money to pay & alot to ship if you were to sell to the US. So was it a local pickup deal?

I would have never fitured you for a "hong kong girl", Tom.

So why did you sell it? Are you cashing out of the hobby in general? Just Atari? Just 2600? What up?

It's obvious to me that he's moving over to the Orient where he'll continue his long love afair with the Atari 2800 :D

So you cashed in the collection to fund a new Mac & iPod?

Gotta say, I'd do it to if my 2600 collection would go for that much. :P

Thanks for all the feedback.
Even though the 'Reserve' wasn't met, I sold to the highest bidder. He's deciding on 'pick up' or Postel service (£60.00, ouch).

I didn't have to sell it, I just wanted to. For me, Atari VCS was always the best, as it was my first 'real' system, but I thought it is time to 'give' (sell) it to someone, who doesn't keep it packed up in boxes in the loft, like I did. Someone who is younger (me =45) and appreciates the 'Retro', especially VCS.

I might leave the gaming scene soon, see above (age), but for now, it's still hard to let go totally. I mean I still buy hardware and software, just got an N-Gage (just for the games), so the end is not quite near yet.

As for my Ebay selling nick: It's my ex-wife's user name, as she was selling items on Ebay. My ex is into anything Chinese, Bruce Lee, Tao Kend Do (or however you spell it), and it is her user name (hongkong-girl), which I hi-jacked 8-)

Anyway, in 1984 my then-wife finished 'River Raid' in one! sitting (7 1/2 hours), so she's cool with me using her nick.

Finished? How can you tell when you finish River Raid? Does the game end?
Oh and I'd never seen the box for Mr. Do! until I saw your auction. It's not anything like what I would have expected.

I assumed it was the PAL version, as they often have different artwork but then I checked the description and it says NTSC! If that's true, then that is indeed an odd box variation (normally it looks like all the other Coleco boxes with a picture of the arcade cabinet).

So why did you sell it all in one lot instead of breaking it up into several auctions? You could have made a bunch more money by splitting it up (though it would have taken a lot more of your time). Did you just want to get rid of the collection quickly or did you want to give it all to a good home (someone who appreciates the 'Retro')?

Kttnp (name too long for me to remember)
you are right, it is a NTSC game (white) in a PAL box, as at the time I swopped with Kevin. He wanted a cart only PAL game, and I wanted an NTSC game.

As for splitting, no I don't split because in the end you get stuck with games like Combat, Pac-Man, ET, Defender, Space Invaders...you get my drift...

No, I wouldn't have got much more money in th UK, as UK people are poor people. For me in UK $2000.00 is a good deal.

Oh, about River Raid:

The game finishes because the score rolls over and turns into !!! (three exclamation marks).
I cannot remember if the game stops, or continues, sorry.
