Well, it's official. You can also get it by subscribing to NP or registering certain games. I'm getting a gamecube when this comes out.

wtf? I don't want any of those new games coming out.
*grumble* guess I'll be going for the NP renewal...it's cheaper anyway.

Isn't $17 a little much for games I already own?

In addition to that, where the FUCK is Link to the Past?! I can understand not including the Gameboy Zeldas, but LTTP?! Good God.

Of course, they couldn't include ALttP since it's currently for sale on GBA. And doing well. Making it a part of this package would hurt its sales on GBA.
I wish they had included Link's Awakening and the Oracle series, though.

That will suck if there's no JPN version of that disc. :(

I understand their motivation, but that doesn't make it any less "fuxx0red". If I were to buy this disc, I'd want it to be the qunitessential collection of console zelda titles. Not all of them minus one. Fuck that.
I'm not so much bothered by the exclusion of the GB titles as I can't stand the Oracle games and, though I loved LA, I don't consider it a true Zelda title (Capcom developed).

No, Capcom developed the Oracle series, not LA.

Ugh. I'm not a fan of Nintendo Power but seeing on the flip side if the magazine gets better I get 12 issues PLUS a compilation of games. Hmmmm...

Not only is 4 swords currently out for GBA, they are also releasing it for Gamecube.
It doesn't make much sense to give away a free game and then compete with yourself for sales :hmm:
Who knows? Maybe they will put the original LTTP game on the Gamecube disc as an unlockable bonus of some sorts.

i'm going to have to find a way to get my hands on a couple of these. the first zelda bonus comp. was easily attainable, and while it may someday bring figures on ebay, this has much more of a chance, and being a zelda collector where i can.......i must have numerous copies of this. maybe EB will sell them like they were selling the last gamecube preview disc LOL

Well its seems that if you buy the gamecube it'll come in the box and the only other way to get it is through Nintendo. So I don't think retail stores are going to have any copies to sell.

@sisko and co. :
No, I understand the reasoning, you can stop telling me about it. It's not going to make me sympathetic towards Nintendo, due to the fact that it seems like all they try to do recently (features unlockable only through connectivity, E-Reader needed to unlock cool stuff, etc.) seems geared to swindle people out of their money.
The fact of the matter is, I want compilations of games. I do. It saves me having to pull out my old copy, and they're all right there, plus you usually get some neat extras. If they had put LttP on there, I'd have been willing to pay $25 - $30 for it, for REPACKAGED OLD GAMES. But this is like selling a Star Wars Box Set and leaving out The Empire Strikes Back or something. It seems inane.
I won't be getting this, for the same reason I still haven't bought the Matrix on DVD. Eventually, they're going to release "The Matrix Box Set". And, eventually, Nintendo will release "Zelda Collection" or some shit, and have everything included, rendering this worthless.

I was hoping for Link's Awakening too!! Love that game. They should have ditched the Wind Waker demo and put Link's Awakening on there.

know what woulda been really cool, had they included the remake of the first zelda on this disk (the satellite view bsx thingy with snes graphics)
maybe it is unlockable or something. personally, i'm pretty excited about this disk, it's one of the things making me choose gamecube over ps2 right now...but of course i never owned a '64 model, thus missing out on 2 of the titles.
btw, having never played either 64 game, which should i start out with?

What do you people think is going to be cheaper -- getting the one year subscription to a magzine I won't read or snapping up a copy on EBay?
Also, any clue as to when this is actually going to be RELEASED?

It's coming out Nov. 17.
I'm definitely getting this, as I don't have a N64 and therefore don't have a copy of Majora's Mask (I have the Ocarina of Time bonus disk that came with Wind Waker). However, that will be my 4th copy of the first Zelda game (I have 3 copies of the NES game, although one is rather screwed up).
BTW, note that you need to be registered on MyNintendo.com (if you receive Nintendo's newsletters, chances are that you already are registered) in order to benefit from this offer.

For me, waiting for someone with a gamecube to eventually trade one in and buy it used w/ my discount. Makes me glad I didn't grab the first one :D

Well, I want the disc ASAP, but I non of the options really appeal to me. I don't want to subscribe to NP, the only game I want is Mario Kart, and I already have a Cube :/
I emailed Nintendo and asked them if the Mario Kart bundle pack would qualify me for the bonus disc (It comes with the game, DD bonus disc, guide, and a subscription for $70)
No reply yet.

I'm gonna renew my little brother's sub to NP and grab the bonus disk for myself since he only has a GBA anyway.
I WONDER if the save games on my memory card from Zelda OOT will work on the Zelda OOT on the new bonus disk?
whoisKeel
11-05-2003, 04:09 PM
doubtful, i believe they are two different games, the previous bonus disk for OOT being the master set, different dungeons, teh one on this new bonus disk is just the original OOT.

Both the original Ocarina and the Master Quest were on the first bonus disc.
I also feel rather hosed by this. I sure as hell don't want Nintendo power showing up at my house every month, and the only game I would consider getting would be Mario Kart, and I don't even really want it that much.
Chances are the NP sub is the easiest and cheapest way. I would be willing to bet the disc goes for over $20 on ebay for a while.

I finally received my disc today. And to all the people that said I should "be patient because I'm getting somehing for free", I have no intention of reading the thouroughly terrible magazine I signed up for, therefore I paid $17 for the disc. I did NOT get it for free. Thank you.

I finally got my disc today also. Everything looks and plays great -- the NES games are dead on, OoT is the same as previously seen on the GC, and maybe now I can finish Majora's Mask. :P
I did'nt really want the magazine either, but I'll cancel my subscription after three months and get some money back. That way I get the disc for only about $6. :)

So what's everyone's problem with subscribing to NP to get the game? If you don't want or like the magazine then throw it away or give it away to someone. You're basically buying the game for $20 which is still a great deal.
BTW, I bought multiple copies of the game (one will be a gift for my nephew) and the subscriptions stacked so I won't be getting multiple copies of the same magazine. Just an FYI to those of you who were wondering about this.

Their problem is that they're morons. Seriously, people. If you hate Nintendo Power so much, just throw it away. No one's forcing you to read it.
Way to not read the thread or my reply. I didn't say I minded paying $20 for the disc, what I said was that the disc isn't "free" the way people kept insinuating it is. The fact is, I paid $20 for the disc. That is not free. Get it?

I received my disk yesterday (Thursday Dec. 18) two days short of one month of wait. I think that what made it very, very slow, was that even though it had NoA's address on the envelope, it was shipped in Canada. Which means that NoA probably forwarded my envelope to Nintendo of Canada first. At least, that what it seems to have happened.
I haven't played it yet, though. I was too tired last night and the little bit of consciousness I had coming home, was spent looking at an old Eaton's catalog from Chrsitmas 75 that I got on Ebay.
I'll play it tonight, along with my new copy of Midway Arcade Treasures, which I bought at work today.
