Random Game O' the Day: Cheetahmen II

Day two of "Nasty Week" is underway, as the DP Random Stinky Game Generator (tm) has chosen the fascinating NES sequel Cheetahmen II.

Well, it's a sequel, and you might even argue that it's better than the original (which was more of a mini-game that appeared on the Action 52 cartridge which may also make an appearance this week). Other than that, there isn't much positive to say... they didn't spell the title wrong? I dunno.

Let's hear it.

Cheetahmen II (Nintendo NES, by Active Ent) $50/R9 -
This game is technically unreleased - Active had a batch of carts manufactured, then went under before paying for them. The manufacturer sold this batch in 1996 to collectors and sellers. As a result, although very rare, the game is not difficult to get... yet. Unlicensed.

It truly is a horrible game, but that is excusable given the circumstances. At least the guy was trying. His intentions for the project were grandiose: he had visions of top-selling Cheetahmen action-figures dancing through his dreams! I don't think this is the worst game on the nes either. My vote for worst on the nes goes to Days of Thunder which has a movie liscence and a nintendo liscence. For a game to be THAT bad under THOSE circumstances IS inexcusable. I would rather play Cheetahmen II than Days of Thunder any day.

Laugh all you want, but I actually think that the idea of the Cheetahmen is quite good. With some talent behind them (think Eastman & Laird), good timing, proper marketing, and a little bit of luck, they could have been household names. But alas, it was just some guy in a garage... You know what they say about good intentions.

complete crap..but it's a rare game, so i bought a complete one (minus comics) for 50$ CND just for the rarity.But, at least, i agree that the guy try is best.

It's not like those Sachen games that you need drugs to play them.

Sunman would kick the crap out of the Cheetahmen. Cheetahmen II is the worst Nes game I've ever played. Before that guy started his plans to make the Cheetahmen such household names, he should've made sure his programming skills didn't suck first. :P
