View Full Version : Help me blow my first paycheck!

I've just gotten my first paycheck from my new job and, after I pick up those Trigun DVDs I've been wanting, and pay off the VISA, I intend to pick up a game or two, either for the old GC or the PC. These are the ones I'm interested in, who can help me spend my new windfall? :D

- Morrowind: Elder Scrolls III (PC)
- Starfox Adventure (GC)
- Animal Crossing (GC)
- Crimson Skies (for $10, but I don't have a joystick) (PC)
- Unreal 2003 (PC)
- or, I might save a little bit, wait till my next check (I get paid weekly) and purchase a GBA and the new Castlevania (the one that is supposedly like SOTN)
- or, on another matter entirely, should I perhaps save for the PS2 I still don't have?

So, what do you guys think? Given the choices above....

1.)How should I spend my money?
2.) Has anyone played that new Castlevania?
3.) Is it indeed similar to SOTN?
4.) If I pick up a GBA, is the afterburner basically required for enjoyment, or just a nice bonus?
5.) Have I asked too many questions in one post?

I await your replies! Thanks in advance for your help.

Morrowwind PC was good if you like Adventure RPG's (quest oriented.)
I'm all about UT2k3 this week.

I got UT2k3.. and unless you're really into First Person Shooters, it's pretty much the same. i.e. A gun pointing into the screen, you run around and shoot people. But yeah it's got better graphics and all new corridors/hallways and buildings. ;) But if you're into that then I'd recommend it. Otherwise, I'd say Animal Crossing since it seems to be all the rage. :P

in reverse order:

5) no, the limit is 8 numbered questions. it's 5 bucks each additional question.

4) if you want to go blind really fast, a subscription to playboy or a non-lit gba is the safe bet. shell out for an afterburned gba. you'll thank me later.

3) only in the fact that it's a castlevania game.

2) yes, it's GREAT! buy it if you have a gba. oops. you dont. see answer #4.

1) well, if you have a sig oth (girlfriend/boyfriend), buy a gift for them so they won't kill you for blowing all your loot on yourself. if you're single, knock yourself out. a ps2 is a good investment at 200 clams these days...=^P

Here's a better... and cheaper way to blow your paycheck:

1) wrap your paycheck around a stick of dynamite
2) light the fuse
3) run like hell

Well, now, that didn't help much at all, CrazyImp!

...he said, as he watched the bits of his check, along with a cloud of smoke and a bit of flame float away in the evening breeze...

You could also get a GBA flash card for NES emulation and "development"

Nah...I thought about it, but the flash cards are too expensive. Besides, I'd rather play the real things than backups. Hmmm...I hadn't looked into the emulation aspect yet.

When people say they are thinking of getting that E-Reader and buying those card games for 4.99 each I just show them PocketNES and a place where they can buy a 64m flash card for $50.00 that will hold 60+ games. at 64m it can only hold some of the first generation of GBA games (Golden Sun is 64m, GS2 is 128) so you wouldn't even be able to use it for GBA roms after Xmas.

Why anyone would want one of those bulky things is beyond me.

Because it's collectible and has a box ;) I'm pretty sure everyone here knows about (and most likely own) the good old flashcart and associated emu goodness, but let's face it, those cards are nifty! :D Too bad they're so pricey though...

yea 4.99.. and you know they won't work to well after some kid uses them and you can get a deck for .50 cents

don't forget the animal crossing cards, and there are some exclusive little doodad cards showing up at toys r' us, like an air hockey card, which is free (but will be worth a small fortune someday to some supercollector out there, lol)...

1.)How should I spend my money?

Hookers and Candy.

If you force me to pick from your list, though, it would easily be Animal Crossing. I'm not into PC gaming at all though so take that for what it's worth.

4.) If I pick up a GBA, is the afterburner basically required for enjoyment, or just a nice bonus?

I definitely enjoy my GBA and I have no afterburner. I do recommend spending a couple of bucks on handles. Makes it super easy to hold.

5.) Have I asked too many questions in one post?

Yup. I take my answers back. SCREW YOU, YA JACKASS!!! :)

Thanks everyone for your help. I pick up the paycheck today, and I'll probably go a-shopping tomorrow, so I'll let you know what I decide on! If you have any last minute suggestions for a GC or PC game (even ones not on my list), now would be the time to make them!
