This is a warning to anyone who may come across this person not to deal with her under any circumstances.

She goes by the nickname Sara Clarke, which just happens to be her real name. She posted a For Sale ad on Classic Gaming Collectors of Canada (www.cgcc.ca) involving a NES system with 3 controllers and some 19 or so games for $60 plus shipping. I contacted her and paid her for the package via E-Mail Money Transfer. Being a Saturday at the time, she wouldn't be able to ship 'til Monday, which was fine.

Sunday I am contacted by a second member of CGCC stating that he had E-Mailed her about the system as well and that she was selling it to him. No money had changed hands yet though, because he was aware that it had been apparently sold to me already. We exchanged PMs. I had at first thought that because he had contacted her directly via E-Mail and me via PM, she mistook him for me. After discussing it and further PMs between me and Sara, and the other person and Sara, we discovered she was indeed trying to sell the exact same package to the both of us. She was still asking him for the money.

I decided to prove it out. I got my fiancee to PM her saying that she'd offer $80 if it was still available. Sure enough, Sara said it was, and that she prefers payment via E-Mail Money Transfer. I got two other members of CGCC to the same. To them both, she said it was available and all they need do was send her the money. One was smart enough to say he would pay by money order. Sara was dumb enough to give her address and phone number in order for him to do so.

All the while I had been PMing her and inquiring as to what the deal was. As the scam was revealed, I finally demanded she refund my money. She kept stalling, I gave her ultimatums: Pay me the money, or the police will pay her a visit. Fraud, after all, is not looked kindly upon by the local constabulary. She claimed she didn't want the law involved. Fine. I told her to pay me the money. Furthermore I gave her 60 minutes from the time I recieve notification of her reading my PMs to respond or I automatically assume she has no intention of paying me back and I take it to the authorities. At first she was compliant, but not with payback -- only the responses. Finally, one last ultimatum -- pay by noon today or it gets legal -- was ignored.

As promised, I've taken it to London branch of the OPP, who also serve Meaford, where she lives.

In order that no one is taken in by this person again, I'm posting this warning against any dealings with her.

Her nickname is Sara Clarke, and she lives in Meaford, ON. She uses a primary E-Mail address of "clarke_sara111@hotmail.com," but created "charity_for_humanity@hotmail.com" for payments through PayPal as well (my fiancee told her to sign up for PayPal so we could "pay" her that way). She is also a member of eBay, but I have as yet been unable to locate her member name.

My own personal searches have also revealed that the phone number she gave is registered to a Steve Baxter, who is also based in Meaford. Steve Baxter owns the "baxter.net" domain, currently host to "www.baxter.net" out of Toronto, where she currently has an E-Mail address registered in her name under "aclarke@baxter.net"

If you come across this user, or suspect that a user by a different name is this person, do not deal with them! If you give her any money, you probably won't see it again, nor whatever it is you paid for.

If you believe you have already been taken in by this scam artist, PM me for more specific details on her not revealed here for legal reasons, and on contacting the OPP to report her to them.

Thanks for the heads up.

I looked up all three of those email addresses on the "look up" search through eBay and came up with nothing.

Thanks for the heads up!

I always find it nice when members of other boards come over and give us a warning so we don't fall victim to their scams like so many others. Much appreciated
