Sony doesn't need too here in the states. There have been a few other threads discussing the possibility of the drop. Unless MS drops big time, don't expect it anytime soon on this side of the world.

Might be worth noting that there is no "Christmas shopping" in Japan either. I think it's coincidental.

Well, yes and no. While "Christmas Shopping" is certainly less popular in Japan than the states, the New Year in general is one of the busiest shopping times of the year, particulary for kids with fat pockets thanks to their New Year's money.

Some Shintoists recognize Christmas, and even teach their kids the story of Santa Claus. I would think they would be shopping for gifts. Hell, I know two Japanses families personally that will be christmas shopping this year.
Also, while it makes up a religious minority, quite a few Christian families exist in Japan as well.
