Yeah, I decided to revive this one too. For my choice, I had to pick the original arcade game - everything about it is damn near perfect, from the overall B-movie atmosphere, to the selection of weapons, character design and more that I won't go into here. I consider it to be one of Namco's finest games... why they won't release it on some kind of compilation pack is beyond me. The Turbo game was pretty close to the arcade game, just lacking some of the extra graphic detail and sound effects that the arcade had.

After that comes Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Grafitti. If you haven't played this yet - and I'm guessing a lot of you haven't - go download it and give it a shot. It's the only 8-bit Splatterhouse (it only came out for the Famicom), and it's one of the most hilarious games I've ever played. You might think that an SD Splatterhouse game wouldn't be any good, but Namco did a great job with it.

Then there's Splatterhouse 2. I like it just that much better than 3 simply because it's closer to the original than 3 was. It definitely has it's moments as well - take the "murder shed", for example. You have to hack up hanging mutant fetuses with a chainsaw, then defeat this thing that breaks through the wall... and when it dies, it splatters the screen with blood. Nice.

Finally, there's Splatterhouse 3. Now you could explore this huge mansion, and the game played more like Final Fight or Streets Of Rage than the previous games. It made for an interesting change of pace - at first it didn't grab me the way the others did, but it definitely grew on me after a while. I highly recommend it.

Anyone else?

It's hard for me to vote when you compare arcade to home console games. I like splatterhouse arcade the best but the TG16 version is probably the closest to the arcade. It would be nice to see a new splatterhouse.

For some reason, some people seem to prefer one version over the other, so I decided to include both in the poll.

I'd love to see a new Splatterhouse! At the very least, a Splatterhouse compilation pack would be nice...

I love Splatterhouse 3.

I played the original when it first came out, thought it was great but really wished it were a bit more diverse. When the sequel turned up on the Genesis I remember thinking that they could have done so much more with it... but when Splatterhouse III came out, I was shocked by the leaps and bounds the series took. I mean, it went from being a linear smash 'n bash to being a non-linear Final Fight/Streets of Rage style game. Taking different paths through the house, having special moves... and the cut scenes showing you that time is running out... all very stylish.

The arcade version is just way too hard, IMO.

The arcade version's definitely tough, but the game just oozes atmosphere. That's one of my favorite things about it.

The one special move in SH3 that surprised the hell out of me had to be this one:

I've never seen a special move that actually has the character's flesh rocketing out and attacking whatever's nearby. I don't recall ever seeing anything like it since, either.

It had to be Splatterhouse 3 for me because it is still one of the creepiest games I've played, partly due to the creepy interludes and story scenes with his girlfriend being eaten from the inside and his son. The art and music are fabulous. It is also one of my all-time favorite Genesis games.

On another note...what's everyones favorite SP boss.
Mine is the teddy bear that grows demon arms in the boys bedroom stage. Very memorable scene. >)

Biggy Man from Splatterhouse - aka Chainsaw Arms - is my favorite SH Boss of all time.

Wanpaku Graffiti's SD style gave it this witty humor that I enjoy the most. However, I enjoy attacking that ugly fetus monster with gardening scissors on 3.

Splatterhouse 3 is my favorite. I like how they kept the feel and the atmosphere of the originals and injected a Final Fight type of beat 'em up system. I thought it worked perfectly. Wanpaku Graffiti is just a crazy game, the disco Dracula in the first stage is pretty funny.

I liked SD Splatterhouse the best but I haven't played the arcade version yet. (I seem to think it is better if it is SD)

I'm going to with the first game for the turbo. The genesis ones may have had better graphics but I found the first one to be the most fun. Never played the original arcade game though i'm sure it was great.
