Damn right its good news. Among a lot of my friends, the GC is considered to be crap (an opinion I do not share at all), and hopefully more will realize that it isnt.

Not this friend, GCN has many great games! WHere else can I play Wave Race, Metroid Prime, Viewtiful Joe and Ikaruga (not counting imports)?

No joke! I'm happy for Nintendo! I'm sick of hearing people slam the GameCube every other day (which happens where I work). I think it's the new hip and cool thing to do.

Mostly it's little kiddies who are just pissy because they got one for Christmas instead of a PS2, so they can't play GTA. Or it's drunken college students who don't think it's cool to play "kiddie games" like Zelda or Mario, but it's okay to get completely wasted every other night and yell "WHOOO-yeah, show us yer tits" all the while their livers are screaming "heeellllpp meeee".

Anyway, it's a great system with a lot of really great exclusive games and I'll continue to support them... I guess, uh, 'cause I'm not hip and cool. D-oh!

So, are they making any profit on the Gamecube now?

As far as being certain about it, I don't know. But I would assume they are, I read somewhere that the GC was byfar the easieset and cheapest to produce. There was also an article in a magazine about nintendo in which one of their spokesmen says something to the effect of "Nintendo is making money now, that is our purpose. We exist to make money, always have, and always will."
