It won't read any game (disk). However, these games work perfectly on my other Sega CD...

I pop the game in, it starts to spin, says on the TV screen "no disk found", or something along those lines, and I believe it stops spinning after that. The cartridges work perfectly for it... Any tips? Here's what it looks like, if you have forgotten.

Nope, what's the best the best way to do it?

I just use alcohol on a cotton swab and then blow it off with a can of compressed air.
But I lot of people would say that is dangerous.
So wait for another reply , maybe someone else has some less dangerous advice. :D

That's the best first option in my opinion. When it's already busted, dangerous is subjective. :)

I have seen dead CDX lasers. I have one.

Can you replace them with a Sega Cd laser ? Are they compatible ?

Nope. CDX only. It's quite the adventure in there. Just go slow and careful. A few parts are snap together, which is always exciting. :)

Never use achohol on a laser lense.
it leaves burns a foggy film on the lense and can make it worse.
I wouldnt even use windex unless it was streak free.

that and i only use WD-40 on my cartridge contacts to clean them.

Saying what 'not' to use, is only half helpful. It answers half a question.... LOL

Sometimes you just blow my mind with your choice of words. LOL

When in doubt, there are always those commercial disc cleaning kits.. at least the motor still spins, which is a good sign.
