Last night I made a contact who said he might have upwards of 6 boxed Bally Astrocades in his basement. This would be left over stock from a store his family owned. Now I know very little about the system, and the DP guide omits prices for the system and certain cartridges. I've been to the Bally Alley website, and done a search of this board, and completed ebay auctions and haven't been able to come up with any prices. Realistically what would these things be worth? I'm assuming they are almost all still sealed, although 1 may be loose. Also were I to get a hold of them, what would be the best place to liquidate them.

This is not going to be one of those legendary finds where I get them all for nothing. The guy (especially after seeing my collection), realizes that they do hold some value. I'm optimistic I could score one myself by brokering a deal, or letting him know how best to get rid of them.

Any help is appreciated.

I have seen several that had boxes in so-so condition but the contents were new/like-new. I paid $75 or so for mine which was unused but the box is slightly water damaged and it had about 5-10 games with it. I think in this condition they sell for $75-$100 on ebay. If you had one that was truly mint with a mint box I think it would go for alot more. You could sell them here or on other message boards/newsgroups but you are not going to get more money than you would get on ebay. Most of the games are not worth a whole lot. There are about 10 or so that are easy to find sealed for about $5. The third party cartridges are very hard to find though.

sealed, i would say youre talking 200$ a piece, fairly easy. i dont know. they generally go for 50- 100$ loose with all parts (and working) and can sell for a fair amount more with the box and instuctions. if you wanna trade a sealed one away- let me know

offer him $ 250 for all of them- go up to 350 if you have to... if there are several sealed that is.

Please post if you get them. I have a friend who'd love to get one for Christmas.

Thanks for the info everyone, and to everone who PM'ed me already looking to score one. I'll keep you posted, I see this guy rather infrequently so I can't even say what the timeline on possible aquisition would be.

Personally I doubt I would get all of the units, I don't think he was fishing for an offer (and I haven't decided to even make him one. I'm still gathering information.) After seeing my collection, he asked why I didn't have one and then launched into the fact he might have a few. If I find out he does have some, I'll will offer to sell them although I think he would end up doing it himself. Also ebay would definately be the prefered route. I doubt he would be interested in trades, although he is a PS2 gamer so you never know.

I'll keep you posted.

Anyone have any idea about what an Astrocade controller is worth? I could pick up three of them fairly cheap, but it would just be trade/sale bait to me since I don't have (or plan on getting) an Astrocade.

astrocade controllers aren't very valuable at all since the system came with four, the max needed, and the controllers were rather resilient, extra control needs for astrocades are virtually nill.
