What about Midway Arcade Treasures? Also, do any of the Rare, Acclaim, or Eidos games or Sega Sports titles count for this thread?

Perfect Dark Zero comes to mind.
One of the 3 promised games that convinced me to buy the system :(

A quick look for Midway Arcade Treasures indicates that its still on. Nintendo's site has it listed for a Nov. 2003 release, Midway's site has it listed for release, and you can still preorder the 'cube version on EB's site (listed as a 12/1/03 release). $19.99. Sweet price. Looks to me like its not going to be canceled.

Okay, good. But if Nintendo even dreams of canceling Pikmin 2, I will go buy an ice pick for obvious reasons.

In response to the Midway Arcade Treasures topic, I was going by the previously posted forum topic below. Also, EB still thinks the Eminem PS1 game is going to come out as well, so I don't know if that's a trustworthy source...

In response to the Rare question, Microsoft bought Rare, so Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Kameo, Killer Instinct, Banjo-Kazooie whatever, and any version of Perfect Dark belongs to Microsoft now.
Also, I forgot 3DO's Army Men: Sarge's War and Capcom's Dead Phoenix before. Also, does anyone know if Nintendo's Puzzle Collection and Capcom's Killer 7 are canned? I see them in the summer 2003 catalog, but I haven't heard anything else about it.

afaik Starsky&Hutch is not cancelled, they said it will come out about 3 month later than for ps2/xbox
omg, Kao 2 and Armada 2 were planned? damn i would have loved to see those :(

I don't know if they did any work on it, but, Nascar 2004 won't be released because of the poor sales of 2003 on the cube. Anyone else notice it was 19.99 about 4-5 month after it came out?

To put the minor question to rest: MAT is not cancelled for GCN. It's still on, the same release date as the PS2 and XBOX versions. All three for $19.99

omg why this unnecessary bashing????? and it's absolute bullshit also, there are nearly as many gc 3rd party games coming out in the rest of 2003 than on ps2 and xbox, at least here in europe

Nobody's bashing. At least, I'm not. I think Doonzmore just wants to compile a list for his own use.
As a matter of fact, I love the Cube. Last night, I played Bomberman Generation and NBA Street Vol. 2 non-stop. Personally, if I can get the 3rd party version on the Cube, I do. It's just the U.S. market keeps getting screwed on the good stuff. (Doshin the Giant anyone?)

I wasn't bashing at all, just stating a fact. I've never been a fanboy of any system. I own a gamecube and wish there were more great titles coming out for it. But the way nintendo's behaving, they deserve to sink.
Quick, name me the top 5 RPG's on the last 2 Nintendo home consoles.
No? Name me a US sequel to any of the following top selling nintendo system games:
Kid Icarus, Paper Mario, Ice Climber, Fire Emblem, Wrecking Crew, Animal Crossing, Ikaruga
No? Ok, then maybe I am Nintendo bashing a little bit.

re Ikaruga: Yes, because it's up to Nintendo to make a sequel for a game they didn't develop in the first place.
re FireEmblem: The first of them is just now coming here. Why would they already be marketing a US sequel?
But, on all other points, I agree with you. Nintendo IS putting itself in a hole, and has been since the N64. Their focus on connectivity (read: screwing the public for more money) instead of a internet gaming is a primary example of why their going to get screwed in the end.

sorry, but what has Ikaruga to do with Nintendo?
You know that it's a treasure title, don't you eh?
Kid Ikarus sales were very poor and not "top selling"
Animal Crossing 2 is in development and heading towards US
so,ur bashing seems to be a bit unnecessary.....

Thought I saw a japanese Ikaruga sequel, but come to think of it, I think that was a dream I had last night, because I remember seeing Ikaruga IV, lol. So you're right on that one.
Fire Emblem is an old game that never made it stateside, characters are in super smash bros. melee.

I thought for a while that spirits and spells was long canned but i guess the company decided to release it for halloween season rather than august.

In what may be the most disappointing moment in video game history, at least for me, Crank the Weasel has been cancelled.
I will say, without sarcasm, that Crank the Weasel was looking very close to one of the directions I'd like to see games go: gag-oriented, like an oldschool cartoon.
Le sigh.

Don't forget that Kid Icarus sucked, and that I'm glad that there hasn't been any sequels.
Paper mario-See mario & luigi for the game boy advance. It's not a cube game, really, but hell, gb player works just as well for me.
Ice Climber and Wrecking Crew have about as much chance at getting a sequel as Sega does reviving the Zillion franchise. Sure, it could happen, but no one really gives a rats ass outside of some diehard fans.

Well, I would say that Ice Climber is definitely not a household name and isn't likely to get a sequel, but I'd look to the new SSBM and its version of the game (it's in there along with the characters, right?)
IRT Fire Emblem being an old game...well, yes and no. The original was from 1992, but they made newer versions over the years such as SFC titles in 1996 and 1999. The newest game is pretty new for the GBA worldwide, so I don't see how that's an old title. Not old enough to get a sequel by any means.

blah, just look at the Kid Icarus thread we had, a lot of people didn't like the game, and that's on this board, in "reality" there will be even more
noone said Ice Climber and Wrecking Crew are bad games, it's just that noone other than a few freaks/fans give a shit about a sequel to those, and that's just the truth, if you can't except it, well, that's your problem, but it's still a fact

I call people "gamers" who have been playing for more than 5 years myself.
I've been "playing" my own systems only since 1997 (and that was starting with the PlayStation!) but I really didn't know anything at all about games until late 2001--and I still don't consider myself to know that much. No, I'm not personally angry or anything, but I do think that's a needlessly elitist statement and doesn't help your argument. Wishing that companies didn't have to make blockbuster hits in order to support themselves is a fantasy, nothing more.
I also think that, despite what people are saying, a remake of Kid Icarus would be nice and could become one of the best games we've seen if made for the GameCube. Yet the people who would make such a venture worthwhile--gamers--might feel ambivalent or even hostile to such an idea.

Well, it wasn't cancelled so much as it was KILLED:
Powerpuff Girls: Shock of Ages
I worked on it, and it was about 50% complete when BAM decided to stop paying ALL their developers. The sad thing is that Cartoon Network spent their OWN money to record the dialogue, and a few days before we shut down, they had sent us all the recorded dialogue for the game.
What a waste.

Just a quick note, coincidentally, I happen to catch a G4TV show Filter today (Backlog TIVO), of games that need a sequel, Kid Icarus was voted in at number 6 in a top 10 of all time. And considering the new-gen geeks that vote on these I suppose I was right, gee what a shock.
Another cancelled game is Goldstar Mountain by From Software. Here (ftp://ftp.gamesdomain.co.uk/pub/movies/cd/Gold_mountain_gamecube.mpeg) is a trailer (4.98 MB).

That doesn't change the fact that Kid Icarus was a terrible game. Man, I TRIED to like that game and I couldn't.
Ice Climbers? So-so.
Wrecking crew? Haven't played it, to be honest. But, I've been gaming for about 15 years now and started with the NES, so I'd like to think my opinons on the subject carry at least a little weight.

Crank, from what I saw of it at a long-ago Midway press event in Vegas, was turning out very well. There weren't many visual gags implemented in the build Midway demoed, but what WAS in there looked great. Definitely a game I wish had been spared the axe.

I came across this thread while searching for something else.
As some of you are aware, Unity was cancelled recently, so there's another one.
It's interesting to see that Starsky and Hutch and Street Racing Syndicate were on this list, since they've been released. The release of SRS was due to Namco picking it up after 3DO became history, right? What about Starsky & Hutch?
It's been a while, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other GC games that have been cancelled since the previous post.
Here is another one: Enclave.
Found this post from Enclave's producer on another message board.
I have a near finished version on Gamecube (like 80% done) that was really good. It was almost identical to Xbox. It came on 2 discs, one for light and one for dark and you could play both from the start. The GC version was based on the PC port so had numerous bug fixes and the checkpoints.
Such a shame we never found a distributor for it.

Here's one that was rumored during the first year of GameCube
Silent Hill 2. Someone at IGN claimed that a Cube verison was going to be released sometime after the Xbox verison.
By Jan of 2002, It was canned. Nintendo deemed it "Too Violent" according to what I heard
Was this actually true? I swear I remember reading it on IGN back then, but when I checked achives, nothing comes up

Here's another one I just read about: Showdown: Legends Of Wrestling.
When Acclaim made the decision to cut support for the Gamecube, they said three titles currently planned for a GC release would still be released, but none after that. The three titles were XGRA, Freestyle Street Soccer, and Legends Of Wrestling III (which later had its title changed to Showdown). While the GC versions of XGRA and Freestyle Street Soccer got released, the GC version of Showdown got scrapped.
