SSX 3

Anyone playing SSX3? And if so, are you having trouble? I was an ace at SSX Tricky, but suck at this one. I think it's mainly because they've changed the formula, instead of doing a jillion tricks in mid-air, it's now better to just hold one long trick, then link them for "combos" with lame board presses while on the ground. I think this is a case of trying to dumb the game down a bit and having the unexpected result of losing half the fun. Any opinions?

SSX3 is tough, but enjoyable...I'm finding that buying attributes REALLY is the way to focus, for me at least...you'd think that spending $$ on a new board might help things, but it's all eye candy, it's all about the stats and the UberTricks.

Did you play the first one. Tricky is the one that got dumbed down. Talk about easy! I think I had golds across the board in just a few hours, that's ridiculous.

I didn't care for Tricky with those stupid uber-trix, so it was no surprise that I didn't like 3. Gimmee the original SSX any day.

See, jdc, one of our common friends feels exactly the same way as you, and it surprised me when he said so. I bought Tricky first, so that was my introduction to the series. Then we bought SSX, and to be honest, I hated it. HATED it. Maybe it was too hard, I dunno, but it wasn't as exciting and pretty. HOwever, it seems that those that start with this see different pluses and minuses to the newer entries to the SSX franchise.

I like 3 better than Tricky. It's more challenging, and certainly prettier. However, I CANNOT do those freakin' challenges... *grin*

Now I'm so busy trying to do board presses that I always run right into a wall. This "combo" system blows. I think SSX3 is going to have to go down as one of my biggest game disappointments ever.
